will you marry me? ↺ ft. terry
( ▲ : calling for @trouvxilles !! )
it started off as a joke, really. jiyeon had read somewhere that couples who were engaged in overly crowded areas were always given plenty of attention, and that attention always led to a lot of free things. no pulling out beaten wallets, no contemplating on eating just kimbap and rice for the week. there were plenty of stories online, blogs filled with romance and gushing over how girls felt like they won the lottery by being proposed to and being given congratulatory free food. it was ideal for broke college students, scamming their way to a full stomach and good leftovers for the week.
“hey, wouldn’t it be funny if we pretended to be engaged so we could get free food? we’d be set with a happy stomach for a good few days.” the sparkle in his eyes should’ve been a warning. the way the corner of his lips subtly curled and the way he straightened himself should have raised a red flag that whatever it was she said, terry had something in mind for the both of them.
jiyeon hadn’t actually expected this to happen, to be seated inside a quaint little bakery, pretty little cakes daunting them from behind glass displays. “terry, it’s not gonna fucking work. what if it doesn’t work? what if we get caught? i’m too young and pretty to go to prison.” she adored her friend and how his mind worked, really. but there were times where she felt as if she needed to be more careful with her words around him, needed to think before she spoke in case he already had an idea up his sleeve.
maybe, just maybe, if she made a run for it right now, she wouldn’t have to contemplate on the multiple ways her youth would end in a tragedy. but she was five seconds too late when she found her friend lowering himself in front of her. “oh, for fucks sake.”
