Look/Personality: Being a tall fellow with messy brown hair and matching hazel eyes, King Nicholas is a kind, caring, yet somewhat provocative king. He cares about most of his servants/friends. Though he may have a compassionate feeling for a certain knight.
I COMPLETELY FORGOT I WROTE THOSE EXACT WORDS LIKE RHJBTNUEJFHNS
So this week chapter 4 will be postpone until next week. I (flip) haven't really been able to work on it since school work and coming back from break and etc. So the chapter will be coming next week!
(Hey it's Mitch posting this chapter, due to Flip being a little tied up at the moment! Hope you enjoy, sorry if the story line is too slow.)
The sun shone brightly in the sky, birds chirped overhead and sounds of children playing were heard as Mitch rode through town, having Flip sit behind her, backwards and seeming awestruck by the stone work of the path, shops and fountains. The mumbles of villagers were vaguely heard around them, mainly things similar to ‘Is that a new knight?’ or ‘Why is the most trusted knight, bringing a weakling along through town.’ The younger one didn't seem to mind though, only showing joy and wonder.
“You should turn around before you fall off.” Mitch suggested, looking back to Flip.
“Eh, I’ll be alri- Ah!” She replied before falling forward, managing to do a front flip of sorts, landing on her back. Mitch released a small sigh, stopping Ezekiel, her horse, and climbing off.
“Are you alright? You could have really injured yourself. Luckily we’re already here.” Mitch gave a small smile, seeming to leave the younger girl alone about being right. The knight moves, tying Ezekiel's reins to a post so that he wouldn't run off. “Come on then.” Flip quickly stood up, following the older one through a dark wooden doorway. Quickly they were greeted with a short, peaceful looking, bald old man.
“Good morning Mitch! It’s a pleasure to see you once more! Oh, and who do we have here?” The man asked, having a kind smile as he looked over to Flip.
“This is the Kingdoms new jester. The king has requested that you create an outfit using the kingdoms colors.” Mitch replied. The man nodded, pulling out a slip of paper from a pocket on his pants.
“Ah yes, he sent a note about it. I already have an available layout for the outfit, all I need is measurements!” The man said happily. “Only shoulders, waist and arm length.” He added, seeming excited to create the outfit.
“Well what would you like me to do?” Flip asked.
“Just spread your arms out. It will only take a few moments, I promise!” The old man replied, pulling out a long thin piece of leather, which had markings and numbers on it. Flip spread out her arms, and watched as the man walked behind her, running the leather strip along each arm. He then held the piece a bit above her head.
“All done!” The man said, walking back to the counter and writing something down with a black quill.
“That quickly?” Flip asked, turn the look at the man.
“Yes. Did you expect it to take longer?” Mitch replied, who was currently leaning against the wall.
“Well... yes.” Flip lingered on words, turning her head towards the older knight.
“Why? All he has to do, is take your measurements, then he already has everything else. He takes the measurements to the fabric, and then cuts it. Obviously, he then sews it together and then the clothing is finished. But of course it’s not that simple. He’s the best I know.” Mitch smiles, her hands making subtle movements, showing that she often talked with her hands as well, a very vivid speaker. Her brown eyes shifted from Flip’s face to the man,and there was a small hint of curiosity. “I actually was wondering Ven, can I speak to you for a moment?” The knight smiles, dropping her hands to her sides again.
“I- uhm…” Flip began though fell silent moments later.
“Of course dear!” The man replied, sliding the measurements for the outfits aside.
The knight looks to the shorter girl, and gives her a small pat on the shoulder. “Wait outside with Ezekiel, I’ll be there in a moment. I have business to discuss with Ven here.”
“Uhm...Okay.” She replied, walking outside and climbing atop of Ezekiel, waiting. The male horse snorts through the nose, before flicking his tail in what seems like annoyance.
Inside, Mitch moved to Ven's table where he had put down Flip’s measurements. “Ven, I have direct orders from the king, alright?” She took a folded piece of paper from her trouser pockets, and placed it upon the table, fingers sliding it to him.
“Direct orders? Exciting, I’ll seek to them as soon as I can!” He replied, taking the paper and putting it into a shirt pocket.
“I’m glad. Thank you again. I should be back in a few days to retrieve the Jester’s uniform.” Mitch’s eyes shifted, following the paper until it disappears into the man’s pocket. She says her goodbyes before moving outside, and upon seeing Flip on Ezekiel’s back, she grins. “You aren't going to fall off again are you?” She untied Ezekiel’s reins before getting onto his back. The knight slowly turns the horse around, but doesn't move, Mitch’s eyes shifting and moving over the people walking about the streets of the town.
“Hopefully not, though it’s still a possibility.” Flip replied, sliding back on the saddle, leaving enough room for Mitch to climb on. “Anywhere else?”
The knight let go of the reins with one hand and raises her hand, fingers long and skinny, up to her head. She runs her fingers through short cut brown hair, before nodding. “Yes, I have to check on Bella.” Mitch turns her head, looking around as to not hurt anyone before snapping the reins gently, making Ezekiel move. She leads them to a stone small hut, a tarp like cloth for a door cover. Mitch once more slips off her horse’s back and ties the reins up to a small pole before holding out a hand to the young soon to be jester.
“Bella?” Flip asked, taking the knights hand and stepping down, seeming curious as to whom ‘Bella’ was.
“Blacksmith, she makes my weapons and armor.” Mitch answers with a slight nod of her head. “Go inside, see for yourself. She makes amazing weapons. Might be to your liking.”
“Maybe..” Flip replied, walking towards the door, though waiting for Mitch to lead.
They slip into the blacksmith’s shop, once inside, the heat rolls over them, warming their faces. The walls are covered in weapons, shelves covered in tools and armor. The place is filled. A woman stands with her back to them, moving a blade out of the fire, and she dips it into a large basin of water, steam and a loud hiss erupting. Mitch grins and gives a small whistle. “Hello Bella.”
“You know my name is Isabelle, nothing more, nothing less.” The woman replies, turning. She looked young, only a few years older than the knight. Her hair was black and tied up to keep out of the way, wearing a thick leather body apron to keep her safe. “Come for your new sword?”
“Yes, that and I wanted to show the new jester your works. Thought she might enjoy seeing your valuable weapons and armors.” Mitch smiled, resting on hand on her hip.
“I uhm...Yes.” Flip said a bit quietly, now seeming to be more of a shy person.
Mitch looked over at the younger girl, and raises an eyebrow. “Flip, this is Isabelle Jelson.. Bella, this is Flip.” Her lips curl up slightly as she looks back to the blacksmith.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you Flip.” Bella gives a half smile and moved over, hands and forearms dirty, and held out a hand to shake.
“You too.” She replied, shaking hands with Bella, and having somewhat of a light grip.
Bella released the young girl’s hand, before moving back to her station, but instead of going back to the sword in the water basin, she leaned over a tightly woven tall basket, and pulled out a bright shining sword. The hilt was black and seems to wrapped in some sort of leather strips. Engravings show faintly near the base of the sword, but they are hard to make out. Bella stepped back over to Mitch, holding it out. The lean knight takes it into her hands, flipping it over slowly a few times, letting her eyes skim over the blade. She glanced up at Bella. “May I?”
“You may.” Bella held up her hands as if to say; ‘I have no control’. The knight shifted, taking a few steps away from the jester and the blacksmith, before quickly taking a few swings with the new sword. Heavy enough to cause damage and go with muscle, but light enough to move swiftly and fast with movements. The knight took note of these traits.
“Thank you.” Mitch whispered after a while, holding it still again. “Flip, see? Isn’t it good?” Mitch raised the sword a little, but held tight on the sword. Isabelle in the meantime has grabbed a sheath for it on a belt. The two seem to share a glance before Mitch sheathes the sword and puts it upon her hip.
“That is...I’ve never really seen a sword being wielded with such skill before.” Flip replied, wonder shining in her icy blue eyes. Mitch blinks a few times, staring down at Flip.
“Really?” The short haired knight shakes her head, clearing her head a little, hair ruffling. “Thanks again Bell, we should be off..”
“It’s Isabella!” The blacksmith responds, looking back over her shoulder from her workstation. To her astonishment, Mitch is already pushing Flip out the door and on the horse. The older woman stepped to her doorway and watched as a young child rides off on a horse, with a new kingdom jester. Her lips curled lightly at their corners.
(Sorry for it being late! From now On most of the Chapters will be posted on sunday afternoons)
The door creaked open, showing a tall masculine figure with jade green eyes, closely cropped and messy blonde hair, and a distinguished scar crossing the bridge of his nose. Flip jumped up, surprised by the intrusion.
“Can...can I help you?” She inquired. He flashed a slight grin that crinkled his nose.
“I’m supposed to come and get you. King’s orders. I do hope you’re...Skyriz? Gods, what a mouthful,” he rambled, huffing a bit. She felt a smile creep across her face as she followed the stranger out the doorway.
She watched his back as they walked, eventually finding herself in the throne room once again. Nicholas lounged on the throne, deep in thought.
Charles coughed lightly to catch the king’s attention. “Sire…” He said mockingly.
Nicholas started, and then a frown replaced the content look on his face. “Charles. What brings you?” He spat. Flip realized that the King had in fact, not truthfully called for her. The stranger - Charles - had lied to her. The uneasy feeling in the pit of her stomach started to grow as the room filled with a tension practically thick enough to cut.
“Should I go, or-” She started.
“No,” demanded both Charles and the King simultaneously.
Flip moved herself over to a corner, trying to stay out of the conflict that was clearly about to happen. She didn’t really like seeing fights, and this one she felt was not going to be pretty.
“I told you that you had a job to do!” said Nicholas angrily. Charles seemed to pay him no mind and continued to gaze angrily at the wall behind the throne.
"I wish you wouldn’t be such an ass,” retorted Charles. Flip stared incredulously. Did he just insult the King? That would be enough to get anyone beheaded, for sure. But Nicholas barely blinked an eye.
“I am aware of your opinion about me, Sir Charles. But I am afraid that since you are only a knight, and I am the KING, you are not in a position of power to act upon your own wills,” Nicholas snapped.
“You’re too young to be the king! I should be the one sitting on the damned throne right now, freely ordering others to do what I want, not a simple minded teenager like you!” Charles quickly hissed back.
“Are you wearing this crown? Do you own my fathers sword? Did you kill the King before my father? I don’t believe so. Now I suggest you re-think on you’re boundaries as a knight, and leave us!” The king quickly snapped back. For a few qmoments, there a building tension in the silence, before Charles released an angered huff and stormed out of the throne room. Nicholas released a frustrated sigh, sitting back down onto his throne.
“He can be such a child at times.” He muttered, rubbing his eyes a bit. “Now...Skyriz, correct?” He asked, looking towards the girl who currently stood, her hands seeming to shake a bit, being somewhat nervous with what had just happened.
“Yes..I prefer t-to be called Flip though...It’s sort of a n-nickname I picked up when younger.” She replied.
“Alright then Sky- Er.. Flip. I said something about you becoming a Jester earlier..?”
“Uhm...Yes, just a bit ago actually.” Flip replied, looking up to the king.
“Alright then. Mitch will bring you to town tomorrow to get fitted with clothing and armour. You are now the Kings jester, and will stand by my side, and do as I order.” Nicholas said. “You may now return to your room for the night.”
Flip nodded, and walked back through the hall that Charles had led her through, and attempted to remember where her room was located. She strode along the stone tiles, lightly biting her lower lip as she looked around.
“Damn...I thought it’d be easier to navigate around here.” She thought aloud. Minutes seemed like hours until she had found her assigned room. She opened the door and closed it behind her, stepping to her hammock and laying on it, being careful not to fall off. Flip sighed and closed her eyes, and resting her head on the hammock, let herself fall into a light slumber.
Hey guys, flippehkid here and I'd like to say that I'm possibly thinking of holding off on posting chapter 2 for this weekend. Unless i can write a lot on Friday, or have a good friend continue writing. I don't think it will be available for this week.
Due to it:
I've had a bit of writers block since the chapter started
I missed all of last week and have tons of makeup work to do
Friday is valentines day (and I probably will be out until 11 at night)
I haven't really had time.
I'm really sorry if it won't be able to be posted on Sunday, but hopefully it will be, and if not I will try and finish that chapter as soon as I can, and start chapter 3.
Thats all for tonight guys, and I hope you have a great day!
