Ned not wanting to kill a young girl who has done nothing is different than the rest of the starks taking a look at what dany has done now as a ruler and deciding they don’t want to be part of that. Like this is a badly written ending but not because “Ned would never be proud of them for this” like Ned, historically, got pretty lippy with Robert when he thought he was being stupid, literally attempted to quit being hand bc he disagreed with the politics, and also like, ya kno, led a rebellion against the king. Saying “Ned would hate that his kids did this” doesn’t exactly track. If he felt like they had good reason, if they explained why, if they were willing to follow thru and take responsibility - I don’t think he’d be pleased exactly with the way everything is going, but I don’t think he’d be like “I protected danyaerys so u have to as well” because he didn’t want to save dany bc she was dany. He wanted to save her bc she was an innocent young girl. She’s not a girl anymore, and the starks don’t feel like she’s innocent. It’s a completely different situation here.
