Journal Review
Ozanne LK (2010). Learning to Exchange Time: Benefits and Obstacles to Time Banking. International Journal of Community Currency Research: Vol 14; A1-16.
This journal recognises the benefits of time banking in terms of physical, human, social, and cultural capital, exploring it in an affluent community making it easier to identify why those from other populations may participate in time banking.
Time Bank is a form of community currency that rewards informal volunteering by paying hour for each hour of commitment which can be deposited at any time by requesting an hour of work in return from the system. This identifies a range of obstacles that may prevent individuals from fully utilising time banking and may obstruct the full development of individual time banks (refer to the article for more details).
This is very effective for increasing social interaction and creating social network reducing mental health issues. This can also relate to experiential marketing (which was review last time) that offers great market experience for all the participants.
Wherein, it’s not only you cooperate with a time banking member and do your job and then socialising afterwards, but it’s also about exchanging other experiences and learning other things too. Just through that you get other contacts and learn about other things, this is an example of currency collaboration (refer to review of true collaboration).
