One of the answers to the age-old question "why don't you just build 200 battleships?"

The other reason being that you can build a shitload more of other ships for the cost of a single cap.  USS Iowa cost the Navy about $100 million. USS Colahan cost the navy $6 million. That's 16 destroyers for the cost of a single battleship. Now, a fancy ship that's in theory impervious to everything, like Yamato, is well and good, but no matter how good that ship is, it's still just one ship. Destroyers provide useful tasks like cheaper shore suppression, escort duties, patrols, and ASW. A bunch of ships will always be able to cover more ground than a single ship. And when your ship is so fundamentally flawed and resource-hungry like Yamato, and you named her after the name of the clan of your god emperor and your country, wouldn't you be hesitant to field her?

This whole blog idea is amazing, and you have a really nice way of writing that isn't purple but still has lots of ~details~ and stuff, very nice work.

—Ah, thank you so much! Yeeeeah, you kind of touched a nerve there~ I actually struggle with purple prose a lot, but I still hope I can get my point across, even when I do add little flowery terms to spice things up.
