         the initial question asked and accusation posed were quite valid in and of themselves. if jon wasn’t feeling well, then why did he go out? frowning, jon held his stomach.              ❝    NO, i didn’t eat too much before patrol!   ❞        in fact, jon didn’t have anything to eat before patrol -- simply because he knew he wouldn’t be able to keep it down. his cheeks were flushed of any colour, beads of cold sweat collecting on the super’s forehead. jon clearly wasn’t well. which left the former question in stand. why did he come on patrol in the first place?                     ❝    i didn’t wanna leave you alone tonight. we made                            a deal: friday’s and saturday’s are non-negotiable                            patrol nights --- ‘member? i didn’t wanna go back!   ❞

                 the words very nearly get bring dick to a full stop. it’s only the mission that accounts for his only reaction being a small falter in his step, and nothing more. he’s an acrobat, so it’s easy to make up for the mistake without the bundle in his arms jostling but it still freezes his insides like he’s on the wrong end of captain cold’s gun. like a tiny hand, maybe damian’s size grabbed hold of his heart and   SQUEEZED.    like he was simultaneously breathing too hard, and not enough.                       “ no, kiddo, it’s dick. “       he corrects softly, tightening his grasp on the younger boy. he wasn’t exactly sure what it is--- right now his best guess is a bastardized, bludhaven version of fear toxin, but robin was slowly coming back to lucidity as nightwing carried him home. or so he thought. apparently damian was even more out of it then he thought, thus prompting the rather careless nature of throwing names around while in the suit.         “ you with me, buddy? we’re almost home, okay? we’ll call bruce from there, but you gotta stay with me. “                        his voice was desperate, even to his own ears but never had he experience a fear as sharp as tonight. he’d lost damian once. it had killed him. in every way. and now that damian was rather permanently staying with dick, the thought of losing him was tenfold, coming to fruition a mere few hours ago when dick realized his little bird was missing. and now dick was clutching and carrying the boy back to a home while he begged for his father. dick wanted nothing more than to give him EVERYTHING he asked for, but it was dick who was in bludhaven at the minute. maybe if he signaled as soon as he got home, b could be there in less than the thirty minutes it took to drive. maybe dick could still make this right, could still comfort damian, even if it meant lighting up the metaphorical bat symbol.

  Tim had been in such a frenzy when the news of his boyfriend had been kidnapped. Damian didn’t know much about this man, nor how deep Tim cared for him. He only realized once the news was given to him. He looked…different. He looked like a caged animal. He was scared, angry, and just wanted to tear the people that held Michael captive. Damian was rather…worried about him.

  Thankfully, Batman and Robin had saved him. Tim got to greet back up with Michael until he was taken away by Dick to go calm him down, go have a training session or something. Damian was left to watch over him.

  Michael seemed pretty beat up too. Great.

   Damian took off his mask, and pulled down his hood. He looked over at the male with narrowed brows. His green hues gleamed with suspicion.

  “ Here. I got you some water. ” he placed the glass on the table, and took a seat across from him.

Michael sat on the edge of one of the medical beds, legs curled up under him, shock blanket pulled tight around his shoulders. he was freezing, and it had been the closest, most convenient thing.

the room was reasonably quiet, Tim had been carried away by his brother a few minutes ago, and he’d been left in the care of the youngest... Damian he remembered, the current Robin. he was good, efficient, even if Michael didn’t remember most of the actual rescue, he’d been drugged with something.

he was pretty sure it was some modified version of fear gas, it had mostly worn off by now, but his powers were less than perfect at the moment, the voices fading in and out, sounding more like static than usual. 

“Thanks,” Michael said, smiling slightly, as he accepted the water, cupping his hands around the glass to try and stop the shaking. They’d kidnapped him because he was Tim’s boyfriend, the meta, not because of Red Robin, which was a relief.

“You don’t have to stay if you don’t want to. I might just get some sleep.” he offered to the hero. In truth he doubted how much sleep he’d actually be getting, but he didn’t much want to be treated like a specimen with a  watch, that... was uncomfortable.

An easy smile forms at the corner of Kori’s lips at the afterthought mention of wanting peppermint sticks in his hot cocoa. Damian likes to put up a big front about being tough, like he’s an old man in a young boy’s body, but there’s still a child underneath all those layers of snarls and snarky remarks.

She makes her way to the kitchen, peaking back over her shoulder. “I don’t know, do you want to watch a Christmas movie?” she asks. She’s not too sure what kids Damian’s age would typically watch, and sure the two could watch just about anything - she’d prefer to let Damian be a kid. “The Harry Potter films are cute too if you want some action in there too.”
