If history is a guide, retirees should not trust Romney with their Social Security benefits. During his 2012 presidential campaign, Romney and his running mate, Paul Ryan, advocated raising the retirement age (which is a benefit cut), lower cost-of-living adjustments (COLAs), and the creation of private Social Security accounts. The senator is clearly in the “entitlement reform” camp that purports to want to “save” Social Security by cutting it, implying that benefit reductions for seniors living on fixed incomes are somehow inevitable.

In 2017, Illinois enacted the TRUST Act, a measure that limits state and local law enforcement’s participation in federal immigration enforcement. Among other things, the law prohibits law enforcement from holding someone just because of a request from ICE.

A federal judge has tossed out a portion of President Donald Trump’s lawsuit which attempts to block a ruling ordering his tax returned to be released. The Washington, D.C. judge, according to MSNBC, says he does not have jurisdiction to rule in the case, given that the lawsuit pertains to officials in New York State.
The judge who blocked Trump’s attempt was appointed by President Trump himself, CNN reports.
