Hi! Saw your tags wondering why milk was on the 'no good' list of foods for a cat to eat. Honestly the truth is that most cats are lactose intolerant. They don’t have the enzymes needed to digest the lactose in milk. When cats drink cow’s milk, they can end up with painful stomach cramps and diarrhea. Most mammals become lactose intolerant as they grow older. It's why babies drink milk but are weaned off as they get older and must eat other foods to be healthy.

Oh yes! That totally makes sense! I was aware of the cessation of production of rennin in humans but did not know that it applied to other mammals too.

It’s appalling to learn that milk is normalised as a “cat food” and I’ve seen people feed their cats milk on a regular basis.

You are amazing! (Also from a friend who has gone through something similar, if you start getting itchy from the chemo, take some benedryl. Apparently that can help a lot.)

Truthfacts, I was nervous about the port being an unnecessary surgery, but it has already made this whole thing so much easier, and I really love my surgeon. This was the 3rd operation she’s done for me since starting the cancer stuff and they have all gone so well. Can’t even see the scar from my first procedure anymore, she’s so good.

Hippo, they told me to start taking Claritin to help with a side effect from a shot I have to give myself to boost my white(?) blood cells today to counteract the chemo (I am terrified of injecting myself, but it’s gotta be done). I guess it causes bone pain and the Claritin helps with that somehow. I didn’t have an allergic reaction to the chemo, thank goodness (they were watching me very carefully, my alcove area was right in front of the nurse’s station and started both my meds really slow), but that is a good tip. Sorry your friend went through this too.

Don't leave us hanging- what type of cinnamon did you pick??!

I ended up getting the blend of all of them because I couldn’t decide, so I hope that means the best of all of them? I almost went for the Vietnamese variety though because they said it was the strongest.

This is perfect. Was there curry among?

Actually no, because of all the spices I still had that were fresh that moved with me to the new place, I already had a sweet curry, a spicy curry and a garam masala blend already! (I even cooked with the sweet curry yesterday to make a really good sweet potato hash!)
