LOVE is.....
by: Kelsey Borresen Weddings Editor, The Huffington Post
Illustrator Andrew Hou had trouble expressing his love for his wife with words, so he decided to do it through art instead.
Andrew is Chinese, but he was born in Canada. His wife Kate (a.k.a HJ) is Korean. The pair, married for five years, lives together in Seoul, South Korea.
“Korean not being my native tongue didn’t help either,” he told The Huffington Post. “So making silly, sappy doodles was my workaround for the problem.”
Andrew started the series, titled “HJ-Story” after the initials of his wife’s Korean name, in 2010. It began as a personal blog but ended up gaining a large fanbase along the way.
Earlier in their relationship, Andrew and Kate used the illustrations as a way to stay connected.
“[Kate] was busy with school and I was busy with work, so we didn’t have a lot of time to meet up or even talk on the phone,” he said. “So during work, I’d pretend to be ‘working’ and create these tiny doodles and send it to her on her cellphone.”
Once he had accumulated enough doodles, Andrew started posting them online. As the site got more popular, he turned the rough sketches into the more polished drawings you see today.
Through his work, Andrew says he hopes to give viewers a greater appreciation for the small moments.
“We’re all so busy and caught up in everything that we forget about the little moments that are important — myself included,” he said. “Drawing HJ-Story for me is not only to capture the moments of a relationship, but to remind me of the little moments that are easily forgotten.”

1. (500) Days of Summer
Summary :
Greeting card artist Tom (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) sees beautiful, quirky Summer (Zooey Deschanel) in a classic tale of boy-meets-girl. But from there, the story takes a turn once we realize that while Tom believes in love, Summer denies that it exists. What begins as a whirlwind romance gradually fades away as Tom realizes that his love for Summer isn’t mutual, and that he could very well lose who he thought was The One.
Moral of The Story :
As much as we wish that every person who falls for someone gets the guy or gal, the truth is that feelings aren’t always reciprocated. At the time, unrequited love may feel like the worst possible thing to happen to you, but remember that not getting the guy you fall for isn’t the end of the world. There’s always someone out there who will feel the same way for you as you do for them, so don’t let one unrequited love bog you down! Plus, that person could appear at the most unexpected time...
2. Bridget Jones’s Diary
Summary :
Meet Bridget Jones (Renée Zellweger): a 30-something, clumsy, slightly chubby woman who is the opposite of every picture-perfect Hollywood star. Worst of all, she’s single. As she dreams about her boss, Daniel (Hugh Grant), Bridget re-meets childhood family friend Mark Darcy (Colin Firth) at a Christmas party. The pair immediately dislike each other in this modern Pride and Prejudice-inspired story. But as time goes on, Bridget discovers that there may be more to Mark than meets the eye in this hilarious but touching romantic comedy.
Moral of The Story :
Bridget is an ordinary woman who has firsthand experience with a truth about love: you often fall for the most unexpected person! Love is surprising and hard to sort out a lot of the time, especially when you have to choose between your hot boss and a real-life Mr. Darcy (who are duking it out in a public fountain). Choosing Mr. Right is often not easy at all, but the man who you once never even considered could end up being a great guy. So the next time you’re at that family Christmas party, don’t write off that guy standing by the tree in the ugliest sweater you’ve ever seen, because there could be more to him than you think.
3. Like Crazy
Summary :
British exchange student Anna (Felicity Jones) and design student Jacob (Anton Yelchin) meet and fall in love, with Anna eventually overstaying her student visa to be with her new boyfriend. But little did the couple know that the legal fallout from Anna’s decision would keep them apart, complicating things for the couple as they struggle to start new careers post-college. Full of ups and downs, Like Crazy follows a long-distance romance through the years as Anna and Jacob try not only to stay together, but also to decide if their love is worth fighting for.
Moral of The Story :
In Anna and Jacob’s case, distance, adjusting to post-college life, legal battles, and the possibility of meeting new people were all factors that could break their relationship. Most of those are also factors that take their toll on our real-life relationships, too. No matter whether you’re doing long distance or not, there will always be situations that pop up and threaten your relationship. Love doesn’t necessarily triumph over all, but by working through your issues together with a lot of cool-headed communication, you can definitely get through a lot, especially if you love each other like crazy.
4. Blue Valentine
Summary :
One of the most depressing movies of 2010 was this ill-fated romance between high school dropout Dean (Ryan Gosling) and nurse Cindy (Michelle Williams). Through flashbacks of their romantic past and emotionally-charged scenes of the present, Blue Valentine tells the story of a couple who fell in love, but whose marriage eventually crumbled through the years, leaving all of us watching in a teary mess.
Moral of The Story :
So what changed, you ask? The truth is that what we want in a relationship changes through the years, and that means that the kind of person we want to be with can change, too. While Dean and Cindy were perfect for each other when they first met, they both became very different people after a few years. Sometimes, both you and your boyfriend will change in ways that still complement each other, but sometimes you’ll grow apart. In the end, we’re all still growing up, which means that what we want can be very different at each given time.
5. My Best Friend’s Wedding
Summary :
Julianne (Julia Roberts) and Michael (Dermot Mulroney) are two best friends with a pact to marry each other if they’re both single once they turn 28. But, three weeks before her 28th birthday, Julianne learns that Michael is marrying Kimberly (Cameron Diaz), news that makes her realize that she has loved Michael all along. And so Julianne flies off to Chicago, keen on sabotaging Michael’s marriage and winning him for herself instead.Love Lesson Learned.
Moral of The Story :
Sometimes, you just have to let go. It doesn’t matter if you think you’re the best person for somebody; it might be best to back away and let the other person decide how they feel for themselves. While it’s true that Julianne was a great best friend to Michael, she eventually had to understand that although Michael had loved her in the past, he now loved Kimberly. Other peoples’ decisions may not align with your wants, but keep in mind that a lot of the time, letting go gives you room for new beginnings and a new shot at happiness!
6. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Summary :
A couple undergo a procedure to erase each other from their memories when their relationship turns sour, but it is only through the process of loss that they discover what they had to begin with.
Moral of The Story :
You meant to meet a person in your life, fall in love and suffer heartbreak, and learn from it.
After watching Her, I’ve come to realize that Spike Jonze is a genius when it comes to combining sci-fi and romance. Yup, if there’s actually a place where you can erase bad memories, it will surely booked by many people. What sticks to me from this movie, aside on how both Kate Winslet and Jim Carrey can break their own image by being Joel and Clementine, was a heartbreak could be unbelieavebly unbearable that you want to erase it all from your mind. But unfortunately, it’s not that easy. Naturally, erasing the pain memories should erase the great ones as well. How can you know you reached a high point when you skip the low point? Watching ESOTSM made me aware how heartbreaks and pain are necessary to feel the happy moments. Both come as a complete package.
7. Ruby Sparks
Summary :
A novelist struggling with writer’s block finds romance in a most unusual way: by creating a female character he thinks will love him, then willing her into existence.
Moral of The Story :
No matter how perfect your dream girl is, you still have to deal your own issues in order to work in a relationship. Nobody is perfect.
It’s a tempting though to create your own spouse character, then it becomes a reality. You can create your own Ryan Gosling or Scar-Jo that matched your personality, but after a while reality should struck. Not about whether people saw you enviously or strange, but more from issues from yourself. In this case, how Calvin treat his girlfriend before and now is still pretty much the same. So you can search for the perfect person, but what about issues from yourself? Have you treat your spouse the way it should be?
8. Serendipity
Summary :
A couple reunite years after the night they first met, fell in love, and separated, convinced that one day they’d end up together.
Moral of The Story :
We don’t have power to pick the ones we fall into. If our spouse looking for another person before wedding day, chances are there’s something missing in the relationship.
When I first watched Serendipity, I actually felt horror. I thought what it must’ve been for Sara and Jonathan’s fiancee, how horrible it must be for them. But what sucks is that, sometimes you can’t exactly know if there’s something wrong in the relationship only after you found the perfect person. I might experience a little similar experience, so feeling miserable and incredibly happy in this situation is very normal. In every relationship, there’s a risk of failing. As cliche as it sounds, heart speaks what it wants. So, if you want to get your life in order, start by following your instinct.
9. The Before.. Trilogy (1995, 2004, 2013)
Summary :
A young man and woman meet on a train in Europe, and wind up spending one evening together in Vienna. After nine years, they encounter each other again on the French leg of Jesse’s book tour. Years later both went to Greece and discover obstacles despite having relationship for several years.
Moral of The Story :
Create a spontaneous move once in your life (like walking with a friendly beautiful stranger you meet in the train), and you’ll never regret in the rest of your life. An affair starts from attraction but to keep going on it needs great connection. If you meet someone who can level your knowledge, philosophy and challenge you everyday, he/she is a keeper.
I think why lots of people can connect to Celine and Jesse, is because their conversations and dialogue about life and love were very honest and true. They show real chemistry. Basically, if you search for a life partner, you need a one who won’t be tired talking to you for hours. There it is, a great relationship is the one where you can be yourself and speak your mind, fight and love expressively and be on the same page.
10. When Harry Met Sally
Summary :
In 1977, college graduates Harry Burns (Billy Crystal) and Sally Albright (Meg Ryan) share a contentious car ride from Chicago to New York, during which they argue about whether men and women can ever truly be strictly platonic friends. Ten years later, Harry and Sally meet again at a bookstore, and in the company of their respective best friends, Jess (Bruno Kirby) and Marie (Carrie Fisher), attempt to stay friends without sex becoming an issue between them.
Moral of The Story :
Don’t overlook your best friend. It’s a scary plunge that does deserve some hard thinking before you take the chance – are you willing to risk the possibility of breaking up and making things awkward with a dear friend? However, this is the person that has cared for you at your worst and best, understood you in ways that many other people can’t, and loved you despite (and even because of) your quirks and flaws. Many of us have had best friends that we never get sick of, even as lovers come and go, but we deny the attraction because we’re afraid of losing them entirely if it goes beyond deep friendship. A lot of the time, it’s worth the risk. After all, as with Harry and Sally, the suppressed tension of attraction often jeopardizes the friendship on its own, so you may as well give it a shot.

不求获得,但求施予,这就是爱的一切。 Love has nothing to do with what you are expecting to get — only with what you are expecting to give — which is everything. - Wishing you a love filled life! Happy Valentine's Day !
An Elderly Couple Took The Same Photo Every Season. But Nothing Could Prepare Me For The Last One.
The saying “a picture is worth a thousand words” for a reason. Explaining how we feel is one way of getting a message across. Another is simply showing each other how we feel. During each season, this couple took a photo together in front of their house. In the resulting series of images below, without saying anything at all, a love story is being told. It’s full of hope, joy, fear and loss, but it’s told in the most unique way. You’ll see what we mean – and then you’ll be moved by it.
And then this ... :(
Nothing has to be said for us to know what that man is probably feeling in the last photograph. A thousand words indeed.
Share this moving wordless story with others.

We fall in love under December lights. Rosy cheeks all eyelashes and snowflakes. Without my glasses everything floats in sparkles. And you look like Christmas morning.
