It all started because Tryst wouldn’t shut up. Like, at all.

“Babe, I’m just saying, we could be a family again” he says, ducking a steak knife as it flies past his ear “See? We already communicate so well-”

“Tryst, you have visitation Thursdays” you hiss, holding another knife like you’re in a Food Network showdown and he’s the mystery ingredient. “If you want me back, you gotta earn it. Five knife fights. Five days. Win, and I’ll think about it”

There’s a pause. A long, stupid pause. Then that stupid smirk.

“...Winner gets custody too?”

“Winner gets bragging rights, dumbass”

DAY ONE: THE GARAGE GAUNTLET

Tryst shows up like he’s entering Mortal Kombat, shirt half-buttoned, chewing gum, muttering, “I was born ready” You’re holding a steak knife and a grudge.

“First blood wins” you say. He grins, “That’s what you said last time-” “TRYST”

He lunges. Immediately stubs his toe on a toolbox. You sidestep, stab the air near his thigh. He yelps. “You clipped me!” “Barely!” “BARELY COUNTS!”

He flops dramatically against the wall, clutching the wound like he’s been mortally wounded in a Shakespeare play. You’re laughing so hard you can’t breathe. You still declare victory. He still calls it foreplay.

DAY TWO: THE KITCHEN CATASTROPHE

He brings a baking sheet this time. Says it’s “tactical armour” You’re wielding a paring knife like Gordon Ramsay’s evil twin.

“Tryst, we’re not LARPing medieval therapy” “Speak for yourself”

He charges. You duck. Flour flies everywhere. You both look like ghost cosplayers by the end. He’s wheezing, eyes full of flour, blindly swinging the baking sheet and yelling, “COME BACK AND FACE ME, YOU COWARD!”

You throw an egg. It hits his chest. He blinks. You’re crying laughing. He drops the shield. The fight dissolves into a flour-covered wrestling match on the floor, ending with him kissing you mid-laugh.

It’s technically a draw. Emotionally, he’s so whipped.

DAY THREE: THE BACKYARD BRAWL

He shows up shirtless. You drop your knife. That’s it. You’re toast. He knows it, too.

“Gonna surrender already?” he teases, flexing like a peacock on steroids. “You’re ridiculous” “You love it”

You try to fight but he keeps dodging and making bedroom eyes. At one point, he ducks behind a lawn chair and yells, “If I win, I get family dinners and make-up sex!” You throw your knife at him, it lands in the dirt an inch from his foot. He grins. You lose because you’re too busy thinking about that grin.

He celebrates by grilling burgers and calling it “the victory feast”

DAY FOUR: THE WALMART WAR

There’s a video of this online. Millions of views. Two idiots sword-fighting with butter knives in the utensil aisle, yelling about love and responsibility.

“I’m NOT taking you back just because you look good holding cutlery!” “You’re just mad you still wanna marry me!”

Security shows up. You tell them you’re “co-parenting through combat” They tell you to leave.

Outside in the parking lot, he buys you a Slurpee. You sit on the curb, sipping, laughing until you’re wheezing. He looks at you like you hung the moon. You pretend not to notice.

DAY FIVE: THE FINAL DUEL

He pulls up blasting Eye of the Tiger, gets out in slow motion, sunglasses glinting, bandages on his arm from Day One’s “battle scar” You’re waiting, arms crossed, knife twirling.

“Last chance, lover boy” “I was born for custody battles, baby”

You fight. It’s more dance than duel now, ducking, spinning, laughing, breathing too close. You cut his sleeve again. He gasps dramatically. “MY FAVOURITE SHIRT!” “SHOULD’VE WORN ARMOUR!”

He collapses to his knees “You win… but at what cost?” You groan “Tryst, get up” He grabs your wrist, smirking. “Caught you”

You roll your eyes, but you’re smiling. He grins wider “Admit it. You missed me” You sigh. “…Fine. You win”

He immediately lights up “HA! I KNEW TRUE LOVE COULD SURVIVE STABBING!” You shove him. He catches you. You kiss him anyway, knives clattering to the ground.

“Now Reunion Sex, lets go”

The music was still playing low in the background, his guitar leaning against the couch where he’d left it. Tryst was sitting cross-legged on the floor, hair falling into his eyes as he scribbled something down in his worn notebook. You leaned against the doorway just watching him for a moment — the way he chewed on the end of his pen, the furrow of concentration.

When he finally looked up, you crossed the room in a few steps and cupped his jaw. He blinked in surprise, lips parting just as you leaned down to press the gentlest kiss to his mouth. His hand rose like it couldn’t help itself, catching at your wrist, holding you there.

“You just… decided to do that, huh?” he asked, voice hushed.

“Yeah,” you whispered against his lips, “and I’m gonna keep doing it.”

The smile that broke across his face made you want to kiss him all over again.

Y'all I just wrote every single chapter of my Ghostface!Erik x fem!reader story which is called "You Shouldn't Have Hurt Her" I legit sat and WROTE all the chapters, I was so into the ZONE. And the warnings for each chapter is CRAZY

I will posting one chapter a day for it hehehe, chapter one is up currently! Chapter two will be up soon! I'm gonna go ahead and also post it soon!

And I've already pretty much FINISHED the whole thing, and it's so damn good to the point I'm already planning out a sequel to it. Which is definitely gonna be GOOD! As I'm also currently working on the sequel as well! Which is crazy😂

When you shuffled into the kitchen, still wrapped in his hoodie, Tryst was already there, barefoot and humming to himself, hair sticking up in a way that told you he hadn’t looked in a mirror yet. A jar of honey sat open on the counter beside a plate of toast, and the sunlight was spilling through the window just enough to catch the golden stream as he drizzled it.

“You’re up,” he said softly, glancing over his shoulder at you with that sleepy grin you secretly loved most. “Thought I’d make you breakfast before you could complain you were hungry.”

You leaned against the doorway, watching him fuss with the toast. “That’s sweet of you.”

He looked up, and the moment your eyes met, the corners of his mouth twitched into something softer. “Sweet as honey, babe,” he teased, sliding the plate toward you before wrapping an arm around your waist and pulling you in.

You melted into his chest, breathing in the faint scent of coffee and his cologne. His lips brushed your hairline. “Mornings are better when you’re here,” he murmured, voice still low from sleep.

And maybe it was the warmth of the kitchen, or the way he said it like he meant it entirely, but you swore the honey tasted sweeter than it ever had before.

The fireplace crackled softly, popping now and then like it was trying to join their conversation. Outside, the rain tapped the windows in a slow, soothing rhythm, but the inside of her living room was all amber glow, blankets, and the faint scent of vanilla from the candle she’d lit earlier.

Tryst sat on the floor in front of the fireplace, legs stretched out, hoodie sleeves pushed up just enough to show the bracelets he forgot he still wore. His cheeks were warm from the heat already or maybe from the fact that she was curled into him, her back pressed to his chest, his arms loosely around her waist.

He didn’t always know how to start conversations, how to fill the quiet. But moments like this? He didn’t need to. The silence between them was easy.

She shifted just slightly, settling deeper against him.

He felt it like a spark.

“You good?” he murmured, voice low and raspy in the dim light.

“Mhm,” she hummed, her fingers brushing the blanket draped over both of them. “You’re warm.”

He huffed a tiny laugh. “It’s the hoodie. Kinda fake warmth.”

But she shook her head, leaning back until her shoulder nudged his jaw.

“No… it’s you.”

Tryst swallowed.

He’d been wrapped around her for twenty minutes already, but somehow those words pulled him closer without him even thinking. His arms tightened around her waist, slow and tentative, as if he was afraid he’d spook her. She only melted into him more.

The fire flickered, casting gold across his face. From her angle, she could feel the rise and fall of his chest with every breath steady, grounding, safe.

“This is nice,” she said softly.

“Yeah.”

A quiet exhale left him, almost relieved.

“I… never really did stuff like this before.”

“Stuff like what?”

“Just…” His chin grazed the side of her head as he looked down at her. “Being close. Without it meaning something complicated.”

She looked up at him over her shoulder, her eyelashes brushing his hoodie.

“And what does it mean now?”

Tryst paused.

In the glow of the fire, he looked softer than she’d ever seen him something vulnerable flickering behind his usual calm expression.

“It means I don’t wanna let go,” he admitted, barely more than a whisper.

The words sank into her chest like warmth spreading under her ribs.

She reached back, fingers brushing his jaw. His eyes fluttered shut for a second like he was savoring how gentle her touch was. When he opened them again, he rested his forehead lightly against the side of hers.

“You don’t have to,” she whispered.

Tryst let out a breath that sounded almost like a laugh shaky, relieved, unguarded. His arms wrapped fully around her this time, pulling her against him until there was no space left between them. Her hands slid over his forearms as she settled into him, fitting perfectly.

The fire hissed, the room dimmed into a soft cocoon of golden warmth, and Tryst rested his chin on her shoulder.

“Warm enough?” he murmured.

“With you?” she whispered back.

“Always.”

Tryst’s smile was small, almost shy but completely real.

He pressed a soft, barely-there kiss to the side of her head.

Not rushed.

Not heated.

Just… tender.

The kind of kiss that said he was safe here.

In the glow of a fireplace that flickered like it approved of the two of them.

With her.

And he didn’t let go.

Not for the rest of the night.

The glow of the TV flickered across the dark living room, casting shadows that seemed just a little too real. Tryst sat beside you, a bowl of popcorn in his lap, shoulders tense as the movie’s music swelled.

You could see it coming—the jump scare.

And sure enough, Tryst nearly launched the popcorn across the room when it hit, cursing under his breath as his whole body jolted. “Okay, seriously—why does anyone enjoy this?” he muttered, eyes darting back to the screen like it might lunge at him.

You bit back a laugh, tucking yourself closer to his side. “Because it’s fun to get scared.”

“Fun? That’s debatable,” he grumbled, but his arm automatically looped around you, holding tight like you were his anchor. His heartbeat was thumping hard under your cheek, and you could feel how wound up he was.

Another sudden sound effect made him flinch, and this time you laughed outright. “Babe, you’re jumpier than the characters.”

He shot you a half-hearted glare, cheeks flushing pink. “Not my fault they make it so damn loud.” But when you leaned up and kissed his jaw, he softened immediately, clinging a little tighter.

“I’ll protect you,” you teased, threading your fingers through his.

That earned you a grin—shy, a little sheepish, but real. “Yeah? Guess I’ll take my chances then.” He buried his face against your neck, muttering, “Still hate this though,” even as he stayed curled into your side.

By the time the credits rolled, he was still holding you like the movie might reach out of the screen if he let go. And honestly? You didn’t mind one bit.
