I’m able to stay with Origin ( Updated Since Origin Basically No Longer Exists )
Great news, thanks to ts1depot on the Sims forum,
and p0358 on Reddit
I am able to get origin to work again. Something p0358 neglected to mention is that here is where you have to place the text in the file. You place it right at the end before the </Settings> like I did. Save it, and than open Origin Again before closing it, otherwise it may revert back to the way it was before without registering
and now Origin is working again for me, at least for the time being and so is the Sims 3 and Create A World’s “Edit in Game”
I want to thank ts1depot and p0358 for their help. I couldn’t have done it without you guys. Harvest Township is back on track along with some possible future worlds. I hope this is helpful to other people who also don’t want to stop creating their own Sims 3 worlds as well.
Edit 5/17/2023
I should point out that since people keep liking this post, that Origin no longer works for me. I was able to get CAW to work for me again, but only because I had access to my old Sims 3 CDs. I just want to make sure that everyone who sees the re-blogs understands that you can’t use Origin anymore. I literally have multiple blog posts on that after this, that I’m not sure if people are seeing who see this.
Cjplays Pottersville!
In all honesty, I never thought my worlds would gain the attention of anyone, what with so many better world creators out there who completely blow the community away each and every time, so I'm always floored when people like my worlds enough to showcase them. I'm literally like this when it happens:
So, imagine my surprise when Cjplays did a video of my latest world, Pottersville. All I can say is, thank you so much, and special thanks to @damienf519, who told him about my world. And please subscribe to Cjplays's channel if you'd like to see this other world overviews.
P.S. Also check out his latest vid on Blazeburg, which he and @damienf519 collaborated on!
Horrible News, Origin broke for me again, New Sims 3 worlds Put on Hold
I am sorry to have to get everyone down, but it seems that solution mentioned on my previous post on the subject was just temporary. I got this a few days ago when I tried opening up Edit in Game to work on a new world
Now it looks like it was giving me the option to play with Origin offline, but no, no it was not. I tried going into offline mode and using it that way, multiple times, but it simply would not let me. Eventually I got so frustrated that I decided to click on the top one, the always keep Origin up to date, thinking that if I got that dreaded “Welcome to the EA App” screen, I could just disable it, and sure enough, it popped up again, only this time the fix did not work. I hope other people are able still create Sims 3 worlds somehow, even if I can’t. One of the reasons I went back to the Sims 3 was because I enjoyed building the worlds so much. I got so desperate that I eventually downloaded an older version of Origin, and disconnected the internet, so it couldn’t auto update, but that didn’t work either. Now I could make all of my builds part of a saved game file, but I really don’t want to do that. I am so angry at EA, they had to fix something that wasn’t broken and when they broke other things in the process, they still forced everyone else to switch over. I have the old Sims 3 discs somewhere for all of the expansion packs if I remember correctly, but I’m not sure they still work because they’re old and I haven’t use them in a very long time. That’s even ignoring the issue TS1Depot found involving old psychical copies of the Sims 3. As much as I would hate to do so, I my have to use a mod, to get CAW to work now. However, even that is a long shot, because there’s no guarantee that someone will be able to create such a mod. If I can’t use a fully functional CAW anymore after this, I will probably continue this blog, but I will move on, and it will no longer focus on the Sims 3.
Augggghhh! Why Me?!? (Computer Woes Again 🤣)
I don't know if anyone knows this, but I've been plagued by computer woes going back to 2019. Everything was fine, but then I lost my hard drive and lost six months of work in the process (as well as several years of photography).
Then I started having trouble with sound and all my WIPs for two years because of a combination of glitches and system configurations that didn't work well with my setup.
Then this past week, it happened again! I noticed my computer acting weird, with heavy usage spikes in Task Monitor. Remembering the horror show of the past, I immediately bought two (yes, two!) external hard drives, and backed everything up.
Literally, on the day I received my second external drive, I launched TS3. It froze, and that was it. I shut the computer down and now it won't even post. I just get a mocking little white indicator light that says "CPU." This is just when I had found the energy to finally complete San Marina and whip up a new YouTube video featuring Pottersville. Always seems as if when I'm in the groove of things, this stuff happens.
Now, I don't believe I lost the drive. I think it's the mobo, because I've always had trouble with it from the start. So, I'm getting a new mobo. Till now, I will have to futz around on my current machine, which is less powerful than the one I've been building worlds in.
I'm really nervous right now, because I don't know whether it's a hard drive, mobo or CPU issue. If it's a mobo issue, then the new mobo will fix everything. If it's a CPU issue, then I have to buy a new one, which will delay San Marin. If it's a hard drive issue, then I lost several hours of work on San Marina, which will set me back after making so much progress. Needless to say, pretty much feeling like this right now:
Problem Solved! Third Version of Blazeburg Coming!
I was able to fix that issue with the world not exporting to the Sims 3 with the help of @ts1depot. This means that after a bit more work and some more play testing of my own, I should be able to release the third beta for Blazeburg.
Well, after years of being stuck with a lousy web host, I finally packed my bags and moved my site, The Sims Depot, to a new host this week. The process went much smoother than I expected, and now the website is up and running consistently again! 👍
My apologies to visitors who’ve been to the site and experienced either downtime or slow loading pages, and thanks for your understanding. You guys are awesome! 💖
Having Trouble with Webhost, Transferring Shortly
Recently, I was sent a message by someone informing me that my site, The Sims Depot.com, is down. Unfortunately, it has been down a lot lately, because my current web host has started crapping out on me. This is not the first time this has happened, and I put up with it, but as of 2021, enough is enough, so I’m dropping this host and moving to a new one.
Because I’m moving to a new host, The Sims Depot.com might be down for the better part of tomorrow as I transfer files and set everything up. So, if you visit the site and see that it’s offline, don’t panic. I am currently in the process of switching web hosts.
