I decided to switch up my lighting mods to go with my new Reshade preset, because I was growing a bit tired of the super colorful skies my old one came with. So I went with the Uranesia Lighting Mod Plus (Intense blue waters + darker nights) and also added Nilxis' Realistic Clouds and the Milky Way Night Sky. Add to that LazyDuchess Shadow Extender (4k preset) and a tweak of the ShadowMapSize in my GraphicsRules.sgr (from 2048 to 3840), and now my game is GORGEOUS!

Next I decided to experiment with UI settings. I have different monitors than I did a couple years ago, with a higher resolution. They're great, but the sims UI was so tiny I couldn't read anything, and even distinguishing the images in the interface was difficult.

So I had installed Tiny UI Fix to help with this. I also found, in the Windows 10 accessibility options, a way to scale text size. (And it's not the same thing as scaling the app size - it doesn't appear in the normal display settings, only in the accessibility settings.) I found it by accident, while searching for a way to lower the screen brightness (which apparently doesn't exist... there's only options for increasing contrast or brightness, not for lowering them.)

In any case, I was using both of these... if it was just for Sims3, I'd have been satisfied with TinyUI Fix, but for other games I play, I needed the windows setting as well. In game, when doing closeup shots of my sims, it seemed to me their skin looked more 'patchy' than I remembered it being. So I experimented. Sharona was my guinea pig.

The above four screenshots look nearly identical, but one was taken with both Tiny UI Fix and the Windows text scaling turned on, one with only Tiny UI Fix, one with only Windows text scaling, and one with neither.

In the end... I couldn't see much difference, so I decided my memory must be at fault, and I'll just continue to use both.

Hi, I've just found this channel on YouTube and even though I don't play TS3 anymore, I'm absolutely sure TS3 players out there will love it!

I specifically mean his videos on mods. He shows graphic changes, gameplay mods and more!

His videos even made me wanting to play sims 3 again 🌼

Help with Sims 3 graphics

Hey guys! So after installing my game on my iMac I’ve noticed that my graphics are a little dodgy and was wondering if I could get some help ;-;

The top photo is from my old computer and the second is from what I’m currently playing on which is my iMac. I don’t know if you can tell the difference but with my current graphics, the details of the sim (including face and clothes) are poor and blurry. My graphics card is AMD Radeon R9 M380, I should also mention that at the main menu a pop up window appears saying that it does not recognise the video card yet I’m still able to play the game normally.

So it might be my graphics card? Or could a bad piece of CC be causing it? I also already have most of my graphic settings high in game. Any help would be greatly appreciated x

How to: improve your graphics!

Hey guys, so I decided to share some information about how exactly my game looks the way it is. I never edit any of my pictures from my recent games (only the old pics of the Descendants of the Sun legacy were edited), so what you see is exactly what my game looks like when I play it. This is because of a combination of things that I want to share with you all!

Important note: none of these mods actually affected the performance of my game.

My system: CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60Ghz RAM: 16GB GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB

My graphics settings are maxed out except for detailed lots which I have set to 4.

Lighting mod: Euranasian Weather by Nilxis

Cloud mod: Realistic Clouds by Nilxis

Now the cherry to the pie and what makes the biggest difference is an ENB I use with settings that I tweaked myself so that they fit the Sims 3.

ENB base mod: Improved Lighting and Shadows for ENB Generic 0.76

Now before you download and install this there are a few things you have to take into account:

1. This ENB only works properly when you play in windowed mode. I recommend the Windowed Borderless Gaming app to be able to play fullscreen windowed. When you do use this app, set the resolution of your game in the game settings to 1924 x 1084 with x and y axis -2 and -2. This way you get rid of the 2 pixel border which will distort your sims game.

2. I changed the settings of this mod to get rid of the bloom that made the game too glowy for me. I did this by changing the enbseries.ini file. You can download the adjusted file here. Exchange it with the original one!

3. When taking screenshots with the C option in game, it will not capture the ENB effect. I personally use the GeForce Experience shadowplay option to take my screenshots. FRAPS does not capture the custom anti-alias and will make your pictures look choppy.

4. You will have to turn OFF the smooth edges setting and turn on the anti-alias settings through your Nvidia or AMD configurator to get proper anti-alias. the ENB anti alias conflicts with the in-game one.
