Coral and gold dancing mask of representing Jamsaren. Normally you don't expect the guys wearing crowns made out of skulls to be friendly, but Jamsaren is a protective deity who destroys evil by being even scarier than it is. Dancers representing Jamsaren are common in tsam, a ritual dance done at Buddhist holidays and festivals.
Masked costume for the Tsam dance, textile and papier-mache, 20th century, Mongolia. At the Museum Aan de Stroom, Antwerp.
Early inspiration for "Solipsist"
