Spain sat up on the bed, inhaling deeply, as if to make sure that he could get air into his lungs. His trembling hands ached with the burn of phantom ropes and an icy, wet chill shot through his entire body.
The thunder rolled away, leaving behind the howl of the hurricane and the incessant beat of rain against the windows. Antonio sighed and ran his fingers through his completely dry hair, feeling like he needed to flip wet strands away from his face. Standing up and wrapping himself in a blanket burrito, he padded quietly down the corridor and took the elevator down, squinting his eyes against the light.
Once in the hotel hall he wobbled towards the coffee machine and used his key to get a big glass of hot chocolate, yawning as it filled. Another bolt of lightning, followed by a thunderous roar, made him shiver. Grabbing his hot cup he shuffled into the lobby, following the inviting light of the fake fireplace, quietly waltzing in soft, warm waves through the darkness. It wasn’t until the rounded the sofa and was about to plop on it like a wet pancake that he realized that somebody was already there and he almost landed with his entire body on their lap.
“Aaaaah! Sorry! I didn’t see you there.”
