TSHD 40.2 spoilers 🎇 - An analysis on the light in Yoshiki’s eyes

I thought this was the first time they we’ve seen a light centered in Yoshiki’s pupil, but it’s not and it’s so crazy to me!!! I think that all of them, except for the last one, reflect Yoshiki’s desire.

The moments where we see the light in his eyes is like we’re seeing his soul, and we’re seeing what it wants. During the scene about Yoshiki’s bangs, I think that we see his romantic desire for Hikaru very clearly in his eyes.

And in this one, he had just been confronted by monster Hikaru’s true form and has decided to help him. Once again, his desire/motivation is reflected in the glow of his eyes.

This one is interesting to me because it’s not like the others. I think it’s just that we’re seeing Yoshiki’s soul in his eyes because he had almost just died, and so it was closer to the surface. But also, like the others, we see the glow while he’s looking at Hikaru.

And circling back to this moment in 40.2, we see Yoshiki’s soul as he is filled with determination to continue with their original plan. When he visualizes his future, it manifests as Hikaru—in a way, it is like Hikaru is his beacon of light to follow.

I’m sure there’s other instances where Yoshiki’s eyes look like this, I just need to look for them more carefully. But I find these moments really interesting in particular!

Does ‘Hikaru’ usually refer to Hikaru as a separate person ? Because here he’s saying before “I became ‘Hikaru’.” Also, as fans have mentioned before, the ‘stay by Yoshiki’s side without takin’ im with me” could be giving more Hikaru vibes 😅

I love the theory of ‘Hikaru’ being both the mountain spirit and Hikaru. I mean in some sense, he always has been, in the beginning he couldn’t separate his thoughts and Hikaru’s and obviously he has Hikaru’s personality and memories.

I’ve always felt Hikaru was never totally just mountain god, but an algamation of the two.

But with Kouhei’s wish I wonder if it’s even more than that… I imagine he wished for something for his son to not carry his burden…. Depending what his wish was, Hikaru is either still alive through ‘Hikaru’, albeit irrevocably changed into something new, or his death is 10x more tragic….

I don’t know, I’m dying to know moreeee….

this really shouldnt be this big of a surprise honestly. most moms have pretty good sense of their own child, if yoshiki noticed it would only make sense if hikaru's own mom would notice too, it's an easy conclusion to make i just never had to think about it b4 this chapter

I think Mokumokuren drew this really recently. I think they posted this after ep 11 (?).

Anyway, I’m fascinated by the implication that Hikaru met Kouhei!

They may have met when Kouhei was an adult and working? Kouhei seems young here somehow tho. But maybe human Hikaru was already born then?

I can’t wait for next chapter!!
