These Secrets in Me - COMPLETE
Title: These Secrets in Me (Tales of the Special Branch series, book 2 of 3)
Author: Femmequixotic
Final Word Count: 357,862
Pairing: Harry/Draco
Rating: NC-17. I mean, REALLY NC-17.
Characters: Draco Malfoy, Pansy Parkinson, Harry Potter, Blaise Zabini, Althea Whitaker, Jake Durant
Summary: Auror Special Branch team seven-four-alpha--Sergeant Draco Malfoy, Constable Pansy Parkinson, and Constable Blaise Zabini led by their SIO, Inspector Harry Potter--must handle personal and political fallout from the implication of Ministry employees and Aurors in the scandal around escaped Death Eaters and a Dementor uprising at Azkaban. On top of that, their original target, Antonin Dolohov, is in the wind. Meanwhile, troubling new leads arise, taking Our Team in a surprising direction. And Draco, still hiding his relationship with his SIO from the upper echelons of the Auror force, is definitely not falling in love with Harry Potter along the way. Not at all. Don't be ridiculous. (Prequel is here, ~15K; Book One is here, ~258K)
Well, guys, Chapter Ten is up, which means Book Two of Tales From the Special Brach is complete. You can read Chapter Ten here on AO3 or start from the beginning with Chapter One. (Chapter warnings on Ten for violent spellcasting, injury, a significant familial death--none of our main characters die, so breathe--and grief over that death.)
I’m halfway through the Tales from the Special Branch arc, and I’m kind of wildly astounded by it. When I wrote a quick little 15K Kinkfest fic six months ago, I had no idea it would spiral off into a series of stories that just hit over 630,000 words total tonight. Given the fact that I think the most I’ve written in a year is maybe 200K before...well. I love these characters and I love this world, and they give me such great and incredible joy. They’ve reawoken a creativity I wasn’t certain was going to jumpstart back the way it has, and I will love them forever for that.
Not to mention all of you guys who’ve been following along and cheerleading me as I’ve made this wild dash towards the end of this book. You have kept me going on days when I’ve looked at the page and thought, I have no idea what to say. So thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I’m going to start posting Book Three (Dare To Think is the working title) on Sunday, August 27. (You can follow me here on Tumblr for updates or subscribe to the series on AO3.) My wonderful, beautiful, amazing team @noeeon and @sassy-cissa need a brief respite from all that they do to help this story come into being, and I need some time to recharge before I throw myself back into the Special Branch world. I’m also taking on a new job in the next couple of weeks, so I think I’ll need a wee bit of adjustment time there. But the next book’s plot is already being tweaked and chapters are being laid out, and I can’t wait to bring all these plans to life and share them with you guys. IT’S GOING TO BE EPIC.
With loads of love to you all,
Femme
