Patriots? Falcons? The real powerhouse is your public library. Read the full Texas State Library and Archives Commission report here: https://www.tsl.texas.gov/news/2017/roi2017
In celebration of Texas Archives Month, the Texas Archive of the Moving Image is partnering with the Texas State Library and Archives Commission to host a FREE, after-hours archival film screening on the east lawn of the Texas State Capitol Building on Thursday, October, 29 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM.
Archives in ATXion: The Texas Picture Show will invite visitors to catch a rare glimpse of home movies, newsreels, advertisements, broadcasts, and industrial and tourism films, whose flickering images showcase part of what it means to be a Texan. From cattle drives to drive-in movies, family BBQs to political parades, the moving memories contained in the millions of feet of film and video from the holdings of archives, libraries, and special collections will take center stage under the stars.
Movie goers are invited to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and picnic baskets to complete the experience. In keeping with this celebration of the unique culture of our state, prior to the screening, live musical entertainment will be provided by Grammy Award winning Texas Swing artist Jason Roberts and his band, with the screening itself kicking off after sundown at 7:30 PM.
