First! let's see.. Who Exactly is Sage?
Sage is the Green Steve that Rainbow Steve first met in Steve Saga Origins! This version of Green Steve originated from the mind of @woahrarepairsagemare, first appearing in the Exiled Au they created on March of 2023. This is the post where they first announced the au featuring Sage. For who Sage actually is...
Now this is the story all about how his life got flipped, turned upside down! And I'd like to take a minute just sit right there! I'll tell you how Sage turned into a TRAUMATIZED LITTLE SHI-
First off, he was raised in the green village that got manipulated by Dark steve [Ep here]. He was the brother of Matcha; the chief/Leader of the green steves, being a "Pure Green" amongst them [ Though his methods of obtaining such status were.. A bit unethical.. ]. Sage was happy for his brother, though in return.. Received the opposite in return for his affection. Both from his brother's corrupted mind, and from his religious background. When the Village started to be co-ran by Dark, Sage decided to just leave. So he got his little boat and left. some stuff happens and he settles down in the old tree stump that used to be a Tree of Life. Time passes, and soon he meets Rainbow, saving him and well.. The rest is history.
*~/ Sage's Appearance! /~*
Sage is often depicted with dark skin, sage green hair, in a short low ponytail. He also has a red tulip growing from his head, being able to rip it out and grow back after a couple of months.
He wears a sage green long sleeved shirt with light sage green arm warmers[?]. He wears four friendship bracelets on top of said arm warmers, each representing his friends [+ Nightmare].
He wears cream coloured pants with... no shoes on, often walking barefoot. [ TWINKLE TOE GRIPPERS- ]
He's 152.4 cm [ 5'8 ft ]
He has green eyes, brighter than his other shades. Though he is often depicted with black/whitish grey pupils.
*~/ Sage's Depiction/Personality /~*
Sage if often depicted as a polite character, not really getting mad unless something really tics him off... He acts as a father figure to whom he is closest to, and at the very least; a caring friend who will try to hear you out with your troubles.
He is physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually damaged/Traumatized!
Despite everything that has happened/is still happening to him, he still holds out hope. Not just for himself but for his son, friends, and.. Everyone in general.
Along with polite, back then while sage was still new, he was depicted as nervous af, shy, anxious around newcomers. Though he would warm up to them after a bit.

Sage was/or still is ashamed of his older brother from what he had done to him [ and I assume to his own village in general ]
The Exiled au was originally about Nightmare being defeated early on in SSO and meeting Sage in purgatory. Sage was scared of Nightmare, but still followed him since they were the only two there within the Au. This Au grew into the ship "Sagemare". [ Not sure about the last part lmao ]
Picking Sage's flower on his head does not harm him in any way.. Though I don't know if he built a tolerance to the pain or not.
Sage Becomes Ghost Steve! Residing within the catacombs.. He has a history with the other residents of the old place [ Plague/Wisteria & Faceless ]
Speaking of histories.. His history with Plague Steve is.. Ah.. I don't remember much about this one, but I do know that.. Sage [ or Rainbow- ] 'Kills' Plague [ Or his old self ], salem witch trials style... Or was that something else... Wait was this the time Sage was torturing Plague for hurting Rainbow?
Sage is.. Taller than Nightmare- Though it's not shown much since Nightmare wears heels in both fem and masc versions.
He is depicted suffering in most of Creator's newest art, not giving him a break at all <3
The bracelets like I've said before, represent his friends.. Red = Sanguine, Blue = Storm, Yellow = Canary, & Purple = Violet
But the yellow and red bracelets also represent Nightmare as well..

*|/ Final thoughts/Opinions on Sage! \|*
When Creator first introduced me to Sage, I kinda felt neutral to him lol
But the more they rp as Sage, I warmed up to em, and started to fall in love with his character! And seeing him as one of my comfort chars too! It was a bit uncomfortable hearing how he suffered a lot, but I got used to it eventually!
Sage is one of my favorite examples of making use of an overlooked character, seeing potential and developing him more than the actual series they originated from can do.
I may not have the same affection for Sage as much as Creator does, but I do enjoy him nontheless!

Green Steve: “Because of reasons” is always a legitimate reason.
Sabre: “Because screw you, that’s why” is also acceptable.
