The Split but it’s actually just Moceit getting a divorce and having an odd number of children so they cut one in half.

Watching this new wave of fanders reject the idea of King Creativity having any sort of potential to be cannon is like watching your favourite character die in your arms.

Okay gang hear me out.

The absence of the King in Why is Dating Scary is not as big of a nuke as we may assume on the concept of the King.

While yes it may reframe our understanding on how the sides formed, it does not necessarily disprove his existence. Keep in mind that we are told the flashback scenes are not a literal/accurate retelling of Thomas’s (I’m not typing the C! Part for every thomas so just imagine okay) past. They are not memories, just how Thomas is imagining/choosing to represent past events. Working through them in a similar fashion to how he communicates with the sides now.

It is still possible, given that Thomas hasn’t been told the whole story, that there was still more to the twins under the surface.

Remember that the flashbacks in the video was canonically only going back to Thomas’s early 20s. Most King interpretations I’ve seen typically depict the split happening from age 9-13 varying between different interpretations.

We know that his sides have always been with him, growing and changing alongside him. We also know that the sides can interact and have their own lives outside of Thomas’s own understanding. The existing interpretations of the past sides just prove that as Thomas grows, they can change too. Sides can be hidden, secrets kept, and it’s not unreasonable to assume such an abstract concept has enough wiggle room for the king.

The King and the Split is such an interesting narrative idea that opens up the road for further deeper exploration of the two characters that admittedly have the least canon drama/relationship depth going on.

Even if he never becomes canon, I don’t want us to lose such a core part of the fandom just because a few lines complicate our initial ideas.

Logically everyone appears the same age as Thomas throughout his development.

But I cannot help but think of specificlly Patton, Janus and The King's just being full grown ass men in tiny Thomas's head.

All the other sides are babies

But those three are inexplicably old.
