Tony despised the Avengers, they were annoying pests who got in his way constantly and eagerly waited for the day he could dispose of them all. All apart from Spider-man that is. Because Peter, Peter was something special. He genuinely cared about the people he saved and tried his best to mitigate collateral damage, always striving to improve and never taking for granted his responsibilities.

Unlike the other avengers who, it seemed to Tony, only cared about showing off how ‘powerful’ and ‘heroic’ they are without a thought to the civilian casualties they left behind.

And not only that the younger man was easily as intelligent as Tony was before extremis improved him. Peter was easily the perfect consort for Tony, if only his tiresome moral code wasn’t in the way. How he refused to even think about talking to Tony while he executed his plans so violently and cruelly.

But that was easily remedied. All it took was for him to reduce the amount of people he killed and to use more peaceful methods in his goals. Whilst also dropping by when Spider-man was dealing with several of his villains and proceeding to help him, especially in regards to protecting civilians. It barely took a few excursions and reduced loss of life on his part before the younger man was willing to hold a conversation and only a half dozen more before he truly started opening up to him. Before long Peter started to seek out Tony on his own and it was then that Tony knew that his plan had been a success.

He had him in the palm of his hand and would soon be able to convince Peter to take the final step, his own version of extremis tailored to his unique physiology and his place at Tony’s side as they ruled over the world.

It had taken months and countless surgery's, but today was going to be the day that the doctors would finally wake Tony from his induced coma. The final battle against Thanos and use of the Infinity Stones had placed an enormous strain on the older man's body. One that many were unsure he would survive. But Peter held out hope that Tony would survive. He had too. Because what would be the point of Peter returning only to see his love die like Tony had had to on Titan.

And when Peter finally got to see his husband open his eyes he knew that his hope was well placed because what sort of cruel universe would kill Tony Stark after all he had done to save it.

When Tony found the injured snake among his roses whilst collecting flowers that he needed for spellwork, he immediately felt a strong connection with the creature. The way his magic responded to the serpent made him sure that he had finally found his familiar. And so with no other options Tony repressed the hope that had started rising inside him and took the small snake back to his cottage to help heal them.

In the days that followed Tony found that his magic was happier and more than he had even known it to be and he was sure that it was because of the serpent. The future suddenly seemed a lot brighter for the witch.

Until he woke up the day after he pronounced the snake healed and found no sight of them. Morning the loss of his chance at finally bonding to his familiar Tony soon set about his day as normal resigning himself to loneliness. That was until he walked into his kitchen and saw a naga making up two plates of breakfast. The shock at seeing the man soon wore off of Tony once he realised that the familiar bond he had felt before with the snake was still there, only it was connecting him to the naga in front of him. Not wanting to get his hopes up Tony cautiously approached the man and got his attention. Whatever reaction Tony was expecting it wasn't him to be swept up in the naga's arms as he thanked Tony for healing him while he was so vulnerable.

Or for the naga to be so insistent that the bond he felt was in fact one found between of true mates.
