Suspicious Arrival;
(Closed starter with @monarchspunchingbag.)
It would seem almost as if no one had actually shown up recently, with how quiet and normal the town was functioning. However, despite its simple exterior, something dangerous had slipped past the civilians’ radar. They left nothing behind them; no footsteps, no breath, it seemed almost as if they’d never even arrived.
Said intruder was Tsukiko, a mysterious and deadly being that had more to her than met the eye. She took on a rather adorable appearance, with her round eyes and innocent gaze, and long black hair that was all tied up in a ponytail. Her mouth remained hidden underneath a piece of fabric resembling a surgical mask, forcing half of her expression into mystery. Even though she looked adorable and seemed harmless, she happened to be someone that could be much more threatening than one would assume.
She carefully leaped through the shadows, not letting herself enter the light for more than a second. Her eyes were on the prize; that prize being the castle, the home of the king and the nesting grounds for things to steal. Gold, food, even the occasional monster as she’d learned from many conversations and hours of eavesdropping. She didn’t care about the guards; her skill could dispatch them quickly and she could leave no trace of their disappearance.
Soon enough she slipped through the massive boundary, scaling the large wall easily and disappearing inside the castle. As she landed on the smooth, cold floor, her gaze darted around to see if she had caught the attention of anyone. When she decided that she’d gotten through unnoticed, she continued sneaking through the halls, using every corner to her advantage.
That’s when she noticed something approaching; it had a color similar to her own and wore a large shell on its back. A snail, and a large one at that. Tsukiko darted away from it, then approached from behind, grabbing a knife out of her coat and preparing to stab if the need rose. She took a quiet breath, then spoke.
“Onamae wa nandesuka?” Her voice came out as a hiss, and she waited quietly, keeping the knife at hand.
