He thought nothing of it at first.Â
Leo had a car, one he had bought from money he had earned from selling some of his work to prestigious musicians in Europe. He didnât use it much, because if he were to be honest, he didnât quite trust himself on the road yet. But he was eighteen and he did have a proper driverâs license. So, sometimes he offered to go grocery shopping for his family, seeing as they were busy most of the time. Sadly, Leo had given in to his impulses and his car was now decorated with music notes in all kinds of colors, definitely eye-catching and there was no question of whom the car belonged. It stood out.Â
So when he returned from the store, carrying several bags that probably were far too heavy for him - but to go back and forth seemed like such a waste of time - and found his car in the parking lot sporting some new symbols, he figured he had simply forgotten that he had painted them there. But... The paint was still wet. Had he brought any spray cans with him? He didnât think that he had. But he had been distracted the past couple of days, ever since that incident with Izumi. Maybe his brain had played a prank on him. Wouldnât have been the first time. Puzzled, but none too concerned, he drove on home.Â
The next day, school went on as usual. Sure, he tried his best to avoid Izumi, talking with him at least, because even though they were in different classes, they did have idol lessons together. But Leo could be professional if he wanted, and so could Izumi. They made it through it okay enough. He hoped. To clear his mind, he headed downtown, to the library. Art and art history fascinated him and he spent quite some time there, reading and taking notes. Every so often, there was this uncomfortable feeling at the back of his neck though... Like someone was watching him. Again and again he turned around to look, but when he did, there was no one there. There was a book he had seen that he wanted to read after he was done with his current one, but when he went to get it, it was gone. Well. Nothing strange about that, he told himself. Someone else simply checked it out.Â
But.
When he returned to his car, someone had keyed it. That he couldnât explain away as something he would have done. No way. He looked around frantically, but... Nothing. Again, he saw nothing. Leo jumped into the car and drove away, stopping at a relatively empty parking lot and he frantically fished out his phone and dialed the first number on his friendsâ list. It just so happened to be Izumiâs number, but right now he couldnât think of anyone else he wanted to call. âCome on, pick up, pick up, pick up...!â
