@ttdow I would say yes. You were creative enough with your writing to tell a great story without having to off people. See it's really really easy to kill characters. You don't have to finish their storyline and they generate cheap/quick angst and pain. I strongly hold that character death is almost never necessary. Does it have a time and place and can it be used effectively and meaningfully? Sure. But there are some pretty high standards to meet for that and when you kill off multiple characters every time the audience blinks, then there's no way that those served a purpose. They generated a brief description period and angst and drama and blah. There are so many other ways and options. Literally hundreds if not thousands of options. An author always, and I do mean ALWAYS, has control over everything in the universe that they are creating. They are god. Also, one thing I've been really wanting to say on the matter. Is it really more believable that people wouldn't act like total asshats going around torturing, killing, etc. People like in every zombie apocalypse ever or that there is a virus that turns everyone into zombies despite real science saying that's not possible? Idk. I think the zombie virus requires a lot more suspension of disbelief.
