Kazuha’s breathing style is self taught and self created. Though he has never seen wind style breathing, he intuitively understands the wind and air through his connection to nature and free-spirited mind. Thus, when he creates the flighty and elegant maple style breathing, Tomo chuckles and tells him, “it looks an awful lot like the breathing style that Pillar Shinazugawa uses.”
When Tomo’s sword falls out of his hand, snapped in half, Kazuha is the one to pick it up. It’s not Kazuha’s, and it never will be. Once a nichirin blade changes color once, it never changes again. The blade is Tomo’s, and the purple branches of lightning embossed in it reflect a style that Kazuha has never learned. Kazuha imbues it with his wind and the essence of maple leaves, and it kills demons as any nichirin blade does. Still, he never does get used to using it.
