VERDANT VANGUARD SWEEPS WEEK

I actually originally designed the world map for the Verdant Vanguard. This also means that this map (and the associated maps) are the only Map Mondays I can do for the Verdant Vanguard. I was given the basic shape of the continent. I went hardcore into designing the natural resources that would be present in each location and the biomes. Here's some sketch maps I made that show the design process.

I thought doing all this work would help a story naturally unfold, as once you have a stable system, the seed of an adventure often comes by perturbing that system and seeing how violence spills out.

The final map I made for Skies of Walltestia. This was the big reveal of the end of the campaign -- in releasing Aramomni and dissipating his body, the furious storms that encircle the planet begin to dissipate, revealing new continents that are completely unknown to the world (compare) the players have known. New adventures await!

Sergach is the satrapy of Prince Yaropalk. Within the history of Zhuttsgraad, Sergach is old but not too storied, besides intermittent conflict with neighboring Kitakieleke, before it was brought into the Zhuttsgraadian fold. It is notable for a bioregion known as the Shattered Archipelago -- a great number of shattered, forest islands that are connected by their roots.

The players had two options: go to Muskraag or Gorodzuba. A mysterious voice magically called them to advocate for Muskraag, as it was where the Wyverns of the royal family are trained. With a sample of wyvern toxin, an antidote could be made, which would help them resist the stings of the Prince's favored mount, Anastasia. However, the lodestone that helped guide the ship towards Zhuttsgraad was given gratis by the lodestone vendor Alicia, who only asked that the pirates deliver her family a letter, if they happened upon them. The pirates, their ship damaged by a storm, took refuge in the wild Shattered Archipelago, and decided to try and find Alicia's family in Gorodzuba, guided by the lodestone that would point ever true towards its pair in their possession.

The Dream Factory Campus would have been the hub of the Dream Factory campaign. Built on the body of a fallen God after a Gotterdammerung, this facility is where the mortals of the planet of [Placeholder] met to preserve the gossamer integument of the noosphere by producing and distributing dreams. The tanks of yellow fluid hanging beneath the Division of Inspiring dreams and the division of infrastructure are tanks of Nooceti, oil from whales. Nooceti would later appear in Skies of Walltestia.

This is the last big thing I made in Gimp, before switching over to Clip Studio Paint. Despite the lack of anti-aliasing, I am still quiteproud, though the mountains themselves are rough.
