A white pine scented molly, shivered in the coldness of the night air. Her body racked with power tremors that twisted her head and spilled tears from her blue eyes. Her claws sunk into the earth as she let out a hounding wail that could scare the foxes out from their dens. In the wisps of the night, between the dance of pollen and fireflies in the air, a mangled looking tom sat behind her. His gaze was empty like a turtle shell. A lifeless image of what he once was. As the white molly wept, the sky was sparkling in and out begging for the tom to come join him. He didn’t want too, but the image of his former leader crept in. It was his time, unjust as it was. His brown body broke apart before vanishing into the stars, as if he never existed. Spottedleaf reeled back, her heart pounding. Raggedstar was dead! How could this have happened? More importantly, why would Starclan give her an image of Sagewhisker and the fallen Shadowclan leader? Her pelt ruffled as she breathed in the acidic tang of Shadowclan. She pulled herself from her nest and crept in to get Bluestar. She shoved her paw into the blue molly back and watched her stir. “Bluestar, I need to speak with you outside of camp.” Spottedleaf mewed firmly, before turning towards the entrance of Bluestar’s den. Bluestar was never one to waste time. The two of them made their way through Thunderclan’s camp, slipping out into the leaf litter that cluttered the entrance. Bluestar found a patch were the sky was clear and Spottedleaf joined her inside it. Spottedleaf was about to mention her nightmare, before her head was ripped towards the sky without her control. The sky which had once been dark blue was peeling apart and cracking as a line of red-hot fire split Starclan’s territory in two. It spilled out and bathed the stars in orange and yellow. Bluestar’s expression was changed from confusion to fear as she watched Spottedleaf’s body grip the ground and the poor calico’s body wheeze for air. “Spottedleaf? Starclan have mercy on her!” Bluestar cried out, jumping to her paws and staring out towards her ancestors. What could be so important that Spottedleaf would have to go through pain to see it? As soon as it happened, Spottedleaf was back. Her eyes watery and her body slumped for a moment. Bluestar nudged her medicine cat’s shoulder kindly, her nose feeling the rapid pulse of Spottedleaf’s heartbeat. The medicine cat rose her head, words barely scraping by her lips. “Fire alone…Fire alone will save our clan…” She whispered, feeling strength return to her again. She shook her pelt and move away from Bluestar to face her. Bluestar pulled her head back, shocked and confused. Spottedleaf looked like she was a tree set ablaze by a bolt of lightning. Bluestar’s pelt on the other paw, felt cold as ice. Fire would save their clan? What could that possibly mean? Fire was full of death and destruction.
Fire was full of change.
