#Nightvibes : When Safe (Original Mix)
Written by Drexciya Neptune's Lair Tresor Records 1999 http://www.discogs.com/release/739

here we got skahiónhati's weekly track recommendation hopefully to be brought consistently from now on... every tuesday!!
IT'S THE WEEKLY TUESDAY TRACK
this is something I stole right from The 80s Dream Compilation Tape. the 80s dream compilation tape is basically 80s music... revived. now hold on there with your comedic spittakes; it's actually not that bad. I'm not musically inclined so don't expect me to talk too much about, you know, the harmony or the whatevers. just enjoy it. takes you to a different place really. it's a bit ethereal and kinda dreamy, but I believe that's the essence of the 80s revival movement. return to a different time. a time I never even experienced. but for you older folks, maybe you'll have some particularly nice feelings regarding this track and the whole 80s Dream Compilation Tape. the Compilation and its successor, the 80s Dream Compilation Tape - Vol. 2, are both available for either a price of free or whatever you want to pay.
the stegosauri.
When I was a kid, the Stegosaurus was my favorite dinosaur.
Kindergarten performance at the school fair! I am in the center with the red Apatosaurus/Brontosaurus. My friends Lanh-ni and My-linh had Stegosauri on their shirts.
Again, I almost convinced myself to skip track in favor of Zumba!, or even an easy run, but I am so glad that I didn't!
There were 11 of us (James, Brad, Roger, Kenny, Will, Kyle, Kat, Larry, Tim, and newcomer Ed, whose wife knows Kristin), and the track was virtually empty. It was initially sunny, but as the workout elapsed, there was a cool breeze.
The workout: 200/400/800/400/200/400/800 (200s at 1-mile pace, 400s at 2-mile pace, and 800s at 5K pace) with 200m recovery after the shorter distances and a 400m after the 800s.
I haven't looked at my splits yet, but in the moment I was pretty pleased with the perceived effort; I was tired in the final 400m and didn't quite complete a 200m recovery before the cooldown. In all, we ran about 6 miles (I had 5.94 miles before hopping in the car).
James noted that we'll need a new group name, and we jokingly suggested The Stegosauri. (Earlier, James called the workout an "undulating pyramid," and Brad replied, "Like the tail of a stegosaurus?" During the warm-up James said that the dinosaur name would need to be an acronym… Which we haven't quite figured out yet.)
Afterward I felt clean, good, and calm. I had also run a speed workout in my Brooks PureDrift shoes, which, earlier this year, I had a challenging time getting used to; I usually like my New Balance Minimus trail shoes for races and speed workouts.
Tomorrow: Zumba!, haircut, saying hello to some of my favorite people, and yoga with the Run, Chicks. What hump day?
p.s. I've picked a training plan! The Hal Higdon Novice 2, an 18-week plan which kicks off in 2 weeks! I'm going to work on building mileage, being more consistent in speedwork, and cross-training/foam rolling/resting well between now and then.
