☕️ and two options for you to choose between: Moffat’s companions/female characters (if you’re feeling like it) or your favourite dynamics in DW 🙂
hm, i'll do a little bit of both, i think!
☕ we all know the man doesn't know how to write women—he leans hard on either Completely Unavailable or hyperromantic/hypersexual girlboss archetypes who serve the doctor's emotional struggle instead of being actually, like, developed. the madonna/whore problem, basically.
but i think he's actually got a similar problem with the way he writes men. he seems obsessed with the chad/virgin dichotomy, portraying men as wildly insecure and competitive with one another. i think he fundamentally misunderstands healthy masculinity to the same degree he misunderstands women, and that's my hot take on the subject.
☕ fave dynamics are doctorrose generally, donna and ten, and ninejackrose!!! specifically the last one, the comfortable intimacy between the three of them makes me totally lose it. they're so close, and in a way that feels unthreatened by jealousy or competition. i just adore them.
