Tuffnut Thorston Modern AU College Headcanons
By far my favorite modern AU college HCs I've written! I think Tuffnut is just such a unique character and writing about him scratches a particular itch in my brain. Hope y'all enjoy 🖤
I envision him majoring in a social science or something
Like psychology or some type of soical studies yk?
He's the type to throw everyone for a loop and do women and gender studies or some shit and he'd be GOOD at it
He wouldn't choose it because he feels genuinely attracted to the subject matter at first
Honestly he would probably choose it because he like threw a dart at a board with different majors on it and it just happened to land on that one
I think he'd be chill with it tho like he'd just be like “Nice! I get to learn about women and whatever a gender is! I have always been confused about the women in my life. Maybe now I'll finally understand the inner workings of a woman!”
And then like he takes the classes and actually ends up liking it
He will randomly bring up facts he's learned in class
But not all of them are completely correct? Like he confuses the wording a little bit and says some shit like
“Guys, did you know that women get 81 cents for every dollar a man has? How do they even know how many dollars a man has? Is there like some database or something?? Am I on that database???”
Someone's gonna have to explain the gender pay gap to him lmao
But then other times he actually retains what he learns and says something like super well-articulated
He has his smart moments but they are completely unpredictable
Kinda has the vibe that he's just floating his way through college and things will inevitably work out for him
Which surprisingly they do
He doesn't really know exactly what he wants to do until like a semester before he graduates when Hiccup asks him about it and he's like
“Oh. I guess I should do something after I graduate. Never really thought of that, though.”
Completely unbothered and will probably put some pieces of paper with careers written on them in a hat and pick one out
Next thing you know this man is planning on going to law school bahaha
He's also in the frat w Dagur and Snotlout but mainly just to feel included
He puts the bare minimum effort into the frat and somehow scrapes by
He will go all out for the parties tho
And y'all know that he would always plan to get his and Ruffnut's band booked to play at the parties
I mentioned in an ask how I think Tuffnut and Ruffnut would be in a band together
Punk band specifically tho
They'd play at shitty dive bars and any parties they can get booked at
They'd also book out a Denny's or an IHop for a night to play a show
Y'all already know they're one of the bands that plays at the frat’s Halloween party
Tuffnut plays the drums
I was thinking either drums or bass but I think he'd like hitting two sticks on things more than plucking thick metal strings
It takes him a bit to figure out how to actually play the drums with rhythm rather than just banging the drum sticks randomly
He'll get like a Drums for Dummies book or some shit
He'll bring his drumsticks and drum pad along with him everywhere while he's still learning
He'll be drumming on his thigh during class instead of paying attention
I think he'd put a lot of effort into learning drums and he'd get really good
He'd listen to early 2000s/late 90s punk rock/emo rock to get inspiration for drum lines
I'm thinking Blink 182, The All American Rejects, maybe some Red Hot Chili Peppers, etc.
His bedroom would actually be my dream bedroom
Think Rodrick Heffley’s room - posters everywhere, lights up, kinda messy, drum kit set up
He might have a random bass or guitar in his room for messing around with when he gets bored
But his true love are the drums
He would totally dress like Rodrick Heffley
My main inspiration for modern AU Tuffnut is Rodrick Heffley, can you guys tell?
And Tim LaFlour
Also Elle Woods BIG time, but mainly in the academic sense rather than the aesthetic
He would rock some black jeans (50% chance of them being ripped), all black converse, plain white/off-white/black/grey/any neutral tone shirt underneath a flannel or opened button up shirt
Y'all know he has a bunch of piercings too
Specifically a bridge piercing, double nostril, septum, eyebrow, tongue, sooo many helix piercings, industrial, rooks, as many earlobe piercings as he can fit
Idk about tattoos
I think he has like maybe a few small ones that are stick and pokes
The type of tattoos that make him look like the wall of a bathroom stall
He'd probably save up for a shark tattoo on his armpit like the one future Rigby from Regular Show has
He'd work at like a gas station on the side to make money
He gets paid for gigs and stuff but the money isn't great nor consistent so the gas station job makes up for it
He'd take every graveyard shift so he could earn a little extra on his paycheck
Since it's pretty dead most of the time, he'd spend a majority of his time with his drumsticks and drum pad, on his switch, or doodling on random scraps of paper
Speaking of doodling, I think he'd be good at drawing
His notebooks would be covered with doodles that are very messy in appearance but still very good
I don't think he'd have a car I think he'd be more of a biker
He'd bike to school, bike to work, bike to band gigs/practice - all of that
But he'd save up for like a van or something big enough to transport his drum set around to his gigs
