Can you imagine what living at the edge is like just casually?
You wake up, and already Fishlegs is off in a cave somewhere, almost dying, Snoutlout has accidentally taken Astrid's axe, and she's presently hunting him down across the entire base with a vengeance upon realising he broke it. The twins are either cheering her on or have managed to coat half the base in monstrous Nightmare gel, which is, in fact, not helping the situation at all. Heather is trying to establish any semblance of normalcy by stopping Astrid from killing Snotlout, and finally, Hiccup crashlands in after testing his latest version of the flight suit, smacks a map down on the table like "I KNOW WHERE VIGGO IS, LET'S GET HIM!"
The raw, unmatched power of a bunch of unsupervised 18-20-year-olds without jobs should be feared and admired.
For some reason I'm convinced alcohol would reawaken Thor Bonecrusher.
i also would like to take a moment to appreciate mrs. thorston. this woman gave birth to TWINS in like 9th century AND survived?? and BOTH kids survived TOO?? i don't think we give her enough credits guys
I like to think that everyone in the gang would've become extremely good, practically experts, in Maces and Talons by the end of Rtte. And every other boardgame as well.
After having to try and anticipate Viggo's strategies and trying to counteract them by practicing on that board for literal months with their leader forming almost an obsession to beat their opponent at his own game, playing it with each other in their free time either for learning or the fun of it, having to face Hiccup in it who plays with the mindset of beating Viggo instead of 'just a boardgame to pass time', all on top of the fact that these guys are super competitive with each other- leads to them being able to anticipate most unseen strategies by normal standards and counteract them like 5 moves early.
Hence the image of literally anyone from the gang (even one of the twins) playing a casual board game of Maces and Talons with someone on Berk like Gobber or one of the adults and winning before the game is even supposed to reach the halfway point. They're the unbeatable champions of this game by now.
It's Ruff and Tuff and...... Chicken!!!
(I'm posting this again cause I changed it a little bit)
Can we appreciate the actual genuine smarts of the twins. They know multiple languages (most that shouldn't even exist at the time), and they have such wits when it comes to getting out to situations. Ruffnut especially had gotten the group out of so many issues it's insane.
They are smart, the type of insane smart that comes from being curious and willing to try anything. They aren't intellectual when it comes to the sciences and the stereotype, but they are intelligent in the twins way and that's why they are so great.
With how much I love Snotlout and Tuffnut I sometimes imagine they would yearn and/or take care of their s/o whether it be in daily life or in bed. I love a man who yearns!
The yearners of the dragon riders for sure. Absolutely, positively WHIPPED for their partners but in different ways.
