BREAKING from today's FanWing Fest!!!
Gold winglet won the trivia show! First question of trivia being about which two scavengers Sunny meets in The Brightest Night.
The guest speaker here is Jake Parker!
Parker states his style for the Darkstalker Graphic Novel is between Joy Ang’s and Mike Holmes’ artwork!
Every 30-40 pages Parker would send the pages to scholastic who’d send it to Tui for notes.
His favorite environment to draw was the nightwing castle!
His favorite character is Fathom!
Jake Parker is the illustrator for the Winglet Graphic Novel!!
Tui pictured Darkstalker as a politician she disliked near the end of book 10!
BOOK 17 GOES TO A NEW PLACE ON THE WINGS OF FIRE PLANET!
Art from Jake Parker and sneak peaks of the Winglet Graphic Novel!
Here's notes from today's event at the Academy of Music!
Tui reconfirms she does want to write about Auklet, Cliff, Peacemaker and Bumblebee as older characters
Tui loves the range of art styles in Wings of Fire fanart and loves seeing who's each fans favorite character
Arc 4 will either be 3 or 5 books long
She already has a pretty good idea of what to write for book 18
Tui confirms that the new island was inspired by Australia and New Zealand, and learned about new Australian animals while researching for The Hybrid Prince
After Moon Rising she knew herself already where Sora and Umber had gone off to, and wanted to share it with fans
Tui hopes those who read The Hybrid Prince end up learning about what quokkas are
Tui hopes Joy Ang will draw a dragon that has the same spikes as a thorny devil for a future cover, and says Taipan's spikes were inspired by them
The new island is the size of Australia according to Tui
Tui has a word document for each book she writes where she puts down notes
Mink is inspired by one of Tui's son's friends when they were 7
Mulberry is inspired off multiple people Tui knows who try to make the world a better place
Tui wants every single book to get a graphic novel adaption and that the Dragonslayer graphic novel would come out around the same time as a book 12 or 13 graphic novel
Me MAY get to see the origins of animus magic in the future, but Tui's not sure
Tui claims everyone she's working with on the TV show is amazing
Tui says in her dreams she'd want to make a Darkstalker movie after the show is made
Around April or May (unsure if for this year or next year) she'll reveal who book 17's POV is
Tui loves meeting kids who sees themselves in her books and encourages them to make fanfiction and OCs for Wings of Fire
She says Umber is someone who isn't afraid to love others and "throws himself into love," hoping it encourages fans to not be afraid to love others too
Tui says she's thought of writing about Glory and Deathbringer's kids (she said kids, not kid) and thinks if Cricket ever had dragonets they'd be beautiful
Her inspiration for the othermind came from a documentary she watched while doing research for arc 3, where a certain plant spreads its seeds into ants and grows out of their heads
She thinks Darkstalker and Clearsight could've had a happy ending, and that it'd be interesting to write about the different timelines of them Clearsight saw, but that where it all started falling apart was when Darkstalker gave Clearsight those earrings that blocked her from seeing certain futures
Her favorite ships include Sunlow, Glorybringer, and Umberry
Tui says Peril is the exact opposite of her
There will be two graphic novels coming out this year, one of which will be a winglet
