News: Shorty's, Rocco's, Tula's buildings slated for redevelopment, new Belltown apartments
An Atlanta real estate development company is planning a 124-unit building at the site where Tula's Restaurant and Jazz Club, Rocco's and Shorty's are located in Seattle's Belltown neighborhood.
The buildings where the three popular restaurants and bars, including Shorty's, which is a Coney Island-themed pinball bar, Lava Lounge, Clever Bottle and Rabbit Hole, will be demolished as part of a plan to redevelop the sites at 2214, 2216 and 2224 Second Ave.

Wood Partners, which has a Seattle office, is a reportedly planning a new building on the three parcels on Second Avenue and Bell Street, according to the Daily Journal of Commerce.
The site is 19,400 square feet and includes the Wayne Apartments building at 2224 Second Ave. That building will be considered for landmark status at a Seattle Landmarks Preservation meeting Wednesday. Rain City Properties currently owns the building.
Seattle-based Zacri Inc. owns the two other parcels, and is currently negotiating a deal to sell them to Wood Partners, according to the DJC. That deal has not yet closed.
The new project, which would include street-level retail and below-grade parking, would be next to the planned redevelopment of the site where Mama's Mexican Kitchen currently sits. That site is set to become an eight-story, mixed-use building with 60 apartments.
Wood Partners has been active downtown since entering the Seattle market several years ago. In addition to the project at Second and Bell, the company is proposing a 39-story apartment tower at Second Avenue and Stewart Street, andit's selling a recently completed, 27-story called Dimension at Cedar Street and Third Avenue.
