noticing their individual quirks
Mike was about 4-5 years old when he first noticed Skylar would bit her lip constantly. If it was her deep in thought, if she were about to tell a little white lie, if she was anxious, if she really enjoyed something, just anytime it seemed like she had to debate something in her head, her bottom lip would slide under her upper front teeth then slide out.
This only meant as a sign of identifying how she felt about something, this changed when he was about 12 though when he found himself staring and mirroring what she was doing. He kept wondering how that natural little pout would feel against his own lips.
Now, he found himself doing the same thing now. It had been about 18 years, yet he couldn't help but to feel the same way as he was 12 years old.
Skylar leaned over looking over Abby's work. She bit her lip as she went over it to help her future sister-in-law. From the corner of her eye, she spied Mike almost just leering there. She giggled a bit. He always had this bad habit of just staring at her instead of just walking up to talk to her or just act on what he was thinking about.
She first noticed he would stare at her sometimes when they were in grade school. Especially if someone else was around, instead of just walking up and taking her hand, like he wanted to do, he'd just stand there until someone acknowledged him, but then Skylar would always reach out her hand and hold his from reading his body language. He was just anxious and nervous about being rejected.
Skylar smiled at her fiance and gently called over to him, "Mike, can you come see and look this over with me?" She bit her lip and said, "I'm having a bit of trouble."
Mike chuckled. He walked over to her and held her hand into his. He placed a gentle kiss against her lips, "No, you're not."
"No, I'm not," Skylar giggled as she confirmed with him. She wrapped her arms around him. Skylar leaned in to give him another kiss. This time, the kiss lasted a bit longer. She smiled against his lips feeling him also smiled.
Abby huffed at the two adults. She pushed herself in between them and scolded them, "Gross. Can you at least wait until I'm in bed?" She actually didn't mind watching them give each other that much affection. She was actually quite happy seeing her older brother finally having a consistent smile on his face and to have someone not look at him as if he was doing something wrong. Abby loved seeing them read each other so easily and how effortless they paired up. Both of their eyes sparkled in a way that only was with each other. It was something Abby first noticed about them. No matter what they would say or admit, their eyes told all of their feelings. They loved each other from the start.
