Beleg claims to “wist no sire,” and many interpret this as literal, indicating he was one of the original Cuiviénen Elves.
But I honestly prefer the idea that he “wist no sire” because his father was among those who were captured by Morgoth’s forces and never returned from wandering the forests. And he never knew if his father was killed or corrupted into an Orc.
This gives Beleg a major common ground with Túrin, who also was forced to grow up without knowing where his father was or if he was even alive. It likely made for a very solid foundation for their relationship that eventually grew so close.
Most Elves couldn’t understand Túrin’s pain about his father, since most of them got to grow up with their fathers. But if Beleg didn’t, that gives him a great reason to bond so strongly with Túrin and understand him on a deeper level.
