A while ago Genshin Impact hosted a web event called "A Message in Time". It was part of their anniversary events and I decided to join it because it was easy to complete, didn't require Facebook/Twitter/etc. account (or just drawing them promotional art for stuff that I didn't really want...) and I just like planning aesthetic things like cards, etc.
The idea was very simple: make your own personalized anniversary card. Basically, you had few in-game scenery pics where you got to choose the one that you liked most, then a chibi version of one of the Genshin characters and a ready-made lastly motivational quote. (You can see my anniversary card in the first pic.) It was quite easy to do, though picking the quote did glitch slightly as after I had chosen one quote it would be a different one in the finished version, so I had to work around a bit it...
The prizes for the event were one Blessing of the Welkin Moon (basically gives crystals that you can turn into 'wishes' [when you've enough those crystals] that you can use to wish characters/weapons from banners) that was basically the 'grand prize' and Mora ×100,000. (In-game money that can be used to level up characters, weapons, etc.)
The catch? Only random 10% of the participants could win the grand prize, but despite that, I was all 'I'll gladly take that Mora and be happy with it'. Because statistically speaking, the chances to win the grand prize were extremely low, so it never crossed my mind I would actually win the grand prize!
Imagine my surprise when I opened my game this morning and I saw the message (the second pic) of my victory. Like holy moly! My luck is usually very bad, so this was a super pleasant surprise.
Also, as a side note, I'm fully f2p (free-to-player). I know one can buy the Blessing of the Welkin Moon from the in-game shop at a very low price, but using real-life money for mobile games isn't my style. So, the fact I won this event's grand prize was an extremely pleasant surprise. 😊
