The temple partially submerges in water during monsoon. It stands on a Jagati and has Mukhamantapa, Navaranga, Antarala and Garbhagriha. The inscription in front of the temple records the titles own by Hoysala kings.

When Indrajit, the son of Ravana, throws a powerful weapon at Lakshmana, Lakshmana is seriously injured and more or less killed by Indrajit. Hanuman is told to bring this herb from Dronagiri (Mahodaya) mountain in the Himalayas. Upon reaching Dronagiri Mountain, Hanuman picks up the herb and picks up the entire mountain and brings it to the battlefield.

10-foot Ganesha idol from Gulur village, Tumkur, Karnataka

This is the 10-foot Ganesha idol from Gulooru village, near Tumkur, Karnataka. Each year, the villagers collect clay from the nearby lake and build a Ganesha idol from scratch.

They start on Ganesha Chaturthi day, and the idol is ready after a few weeks. Post Deepavali, the idol is returned to the lake after a grand procession around the village.
