you can also microwave stale bread-things for a few moments with a (microwavable) small cup of water. it evaporates and gives the stale thing a bit of moisture which usually sorts it out

I’m proud of you getting to know yourself better, and looking at stuff from an objective angle - I think there’s always pros and cons to times we pushed ourselves way past the comfort zone for others
I think it’s important to push yourself, and to do things you’re afraid of, especially when you can prove to yourself you can do it anyway. Obviously there have to be limits and boundaries to this, but it’s often a good thing.
