Hidden gem of the year alert holy shit this was amazing and has next to zero promo? Haven’t even seen a trailer for this and it’s one of the best films of the year and one of the best crime/thrillers I’ve seen.

I LOVE a good ethical compelling crime story with twists. One of the most original crime thrillers I’ve seen, I love the emphasis on sound design for the MC’s hearing condition and how it’s implemented in the heists. Really cool concept that I haven’t seen before. Kinda makes you think what sort of criminal daredevil would be.

Leo Woodall is amazing, I’m going to be checking for anything this guy’s in because he sold the hell out of his role and his chemistry with Havana Rose Liu was so well done. Their relationship was my fave part of the film and every scene of the two of them had me covering my eyes and giggling lmao. I just love a well done romance.

The sound design and music were amazing as well and it’s cool how intricately woven they are into the overall narrative. Daniel Roher is a young and upcoming director to keep your eyes on.

Sheep Detectives - Makes me think about HIMYM and overall pleasant caucasian energy, the secret message at the end is cute 5/10

I love Boosters - best movie of 2026 and all I've seen is the post credits scene also extremely fun font/song choice 10/10

Tuner - hey guys what's up with. The dog mouth sounds. At the end there. That only I hear :( alone in the dark :( after inoffensive music?? 2/10

Tiny Review: Tuner 2025. Baby Driver lite.

The comparisons to one of my favorite movies, Baby Driver, are valid. Both have hearing-impaired musically-inclined protagonists involved in criminal hijinks. Albeit this is a much low-key, less stylized story.

Tuner is a 2025 crime thriller film directed by Daniel Roher and written by Roher and Robert Ramsey. The film stars Leo Woodall, Havana Rose Liu, Lior Raz, Tovah Feldshuh, Jean Reno and Dustin Hoffman.

Summary: Piano tuner Niki White (Leo Woodall) uses his sensitivity to sound to help mentor Harry (Dustin Hoffman) with his medical debt. In order to do this, he turns to safe cracking.

Engrossing, dryly funny crime thriller which answers the question "what would happen if a Safdie film took ADHD meds?".
