For some reason my ears are fixed to A442. I just can’t with this A440 business.

My mom casually mentioned my violin tonight, which made me actually take it out for a bit. It was woefully out of tune, so I went to tune it. A and E strings done, but my D string was in sorry shape. It was beginning to unravel along the neck. Which is a good indicator that the string is shot and could snap and hurt you while playing or tuning. So I went to loosen the peg and remove the string - because I happened to have a spare to restring and tune. The peg. Was stuck. Like, holy shit stuck. I had to use a bit of polish and a nutcracker-like tool to lube and lever the peg, respectively. I got the old string off, and started stringing the new on. The base threading was really thick, though, and wouldn't fit into the string's anchor point. So I went to pinch the thread to flatten it at least one way to slide into the anchor slot, and the whole damn thing cut off. 

So I need to pick up a new D string. Hell, a new replacement set is in order basically. I've only got an A and D left I think and they're at least four years old.

MUSICIANS HELP

Does anyone else use a Fidelis Marching Euphonium? I just got one an I can't get it in tune. My intonation is perfect on my concert euphonium, but this marching horn isn't working for me and I don't know how to fix it. My high Bb reads a C, my low Bb reads as an A, my F is perfect, My G reads as a Gb, and my D is perfect. This is ridiculous.

Mother fuck. I can not cover all of these tunings with two guitars! I need at least 1 more and I have no money to get another!
