So much meat...
And letting people [family] know about my vegan sensibilities just excites more chatty playful comments about meat. To these comments I decidedly play the "humored" card. But under this mask I'm recoiling in disgust. This disgust is not about eating meat, it's about the sheer ignorance of the means of getting this meat to the table. In other words: I'd bet they wouldn't be chuckling if it was THEIR ass in a battery cage for years on end.
Does anybody else have this issue? I get the sense that I'm not alone in this awkwardness.
It's not all bad though. People did make vegan side-dishes just for me [the special one, *flutters eyelashes*].
