Texas's heart was racing. This was big and he and the group didn't have much time. Minutes, really. He tucked his gun into his belt, hidden out of sight. He slipped his knife into his boot and, finally, a length of rope through the loopholes on his jeans. Rope always came in handy. Then he scribbled on the back of a napkin, writing even messier than usual.

Found the guy. Don't have much time so I'm sorry for being blunt. We're going after the group in a few minutes, they're part of an organisation and it's worse than we thought. It's dangerous, I warn you, but I promise I'll be fine and I'll come home in no time. Don't you worry about me, okay?

wanderlust and baked beans | rapunzel & tex | drabble

It was the first night in their new house and they were loving it.

Presently, Tex was in the kitchen, having left Rapunzel in their room after an hour or two of on and off 'activities'. It may be 1 in the morning, but they were hungry.

"I want to get out of Corona."

Tex looked up from the beans he had been stirring in the pan, twisted his head round and saw Rapunzel leaning in the doorway, wearing one of his dark blue button up shirts that was far too big for her and hung halfway down to her knees. He tried to ignore how cute she looked in his shirt (and with messy hair) and raised a questioning brow at his fiancé, then went back to stirring beans. "Hmm? Why's that?"

Rapunzel watched him, almost giggling at the fact that he was making breakfast in nothing but boxers at 1 AM. She clutched a book to her chest.

"Those books you got me... I was reading one of the Geography ones earlier today."

It had been a surprise present. A set of books about places, about things, about how stuff worked - about the world. The set had been handed to her gruffly with nothing but the words "because you haven't been able to see much of the world. Figured you'd like to know about it," before she'd jumped at him, hugging him and kissing him and thanking him over and over again. Turns out, she liked surprise presents.

"... and it got me thinking. I haven't really been anywhere! I mean, I go places on conferences but they're never really very far away and most of them look like Corona. But look!" she exclaimed, holding up the book to display a tropical-looking location.

The ex-con did as he was told, switching the heat off because the beans were done. Then he turned back to look at her. "Yeah, that's Bora Bora," he nodded. This was good, actually. He'd love to go on holiday with her, he really would. And she was the princess - if she wanted a week or two away, she totally deserved it.

"And look at this one!" Rapunzel was getting more and more excited by the minute, and turned the page to display the Great Barrier Reef. Ever since she'd recieved those books from him, the spirit, the wanderlust, had returned to her. Finally, after being home for a good few years, she was ready for adventure again. He took a few steps towards her and nodded.

"Australia, huh?"

"Anywhere. I want to go places. I know I'm the princess and I have responsibilities, but I-"

Tex silenced her with a kiss, and once it was done, he gathered her into his arms.

"We can go if you want to go. You've caught up on the education you missed while you were in that damn tower. Now you get to catch up on the life you missed," he told her firmly, feeling her arms snake around his bare waist. He'd alway wanted her to be able to travel, to be able to experience things, but her studies had gotten in the way. But he knew she deserved to live, to experience. Not to mention he was putty in her hands and would give her basically anything she wanted. But he wanted it too. He wanted her to be happy and he wanted to go on holiday with her.

So he let go of her, turning back to poach some eggs. She followed, arms wrapping around him from behind as she leant her forehead on his shoulder. "Tex... thank you."

He cleared his throat. "Well, this is getting maudlin," he muttered gruffly. "Whaddya say we eat this, get some sleep and then plan the holiday?"

She smirked and kissed a trail on his shoulder blade. "Where to, Captain?"

The motel room sucked, just like all the previous ones. The bathroom was dirty and the mattress was hard and there was suspicious stains on the wall, but hey, it was a roof over his head. He'd only be here for five hours or so anyway before he had to move on again. But until then... he had some time to kill. Might as well contact his fiancé and tell her he was alright. So he grabbed a pen and a scrap of paper and began to write in his untidy scrawl.

How're you? Hope everything's going good back home and I hope Sawyer and Evie are behaving themselves.

Typically, I suck at writing letters but just wanted to say hi and I miss you and let you know I'm totally fine.

But anyway, everything's going okay here. Weather's been good until today - started raining about two hours back but it's not so bad. Makes it a bit harder to follow someone without them noticing, though.

I guess that's it?

One day I'll get better at this writing thing!

we're breakin' free! [PART1]| tex, punz & flynn | hsm au drabble

"Look, man, the last thing you wanna do is audition for some sleazy musical!"

Texas raised his eyebrows momentarily at his best friend. Flynn's basketball uniform hung loosely off him as he glared at Tex, but Texas paid him no attention, focusing instead on passing the ball to Sawyer. The two of them darted around the gym, calling to each other as they went.

"What's sleazy about twinkle town?" Tex asked incredulously, aiming and throwing the ball into the hoop.

"You say that now, but just you wait, my friend. It'll be glitter and leotards before you know it," Flynn answered darkly. He shook his head as the coaches whistle blew and the practice was closed.

For once, Flynn didn't start the Wildcats chant. Someone else took the liberty to while Tex and Flynn argued with each other.

"Hey, no, glitter wasn't part d the deal."

"Just telling it like it is," shrugged Flynn as they made their way to the changing rooms. "But that's not the point. The point is, you're not a singer, Tex!"

That wasn't fair. Tex glared. "What if I wanted to be?!" he demanded, throwing his arms out to the side. Other members of the team were glancing over questioningly.

"Well you don't, not really. This new kid has messed with your brain."

"Kid?"

Flynn backtracked - that was uncalled for, even he knew that. "Alright then, that girl." They'd reached the changing rooms, but Texas grabbed his friend's arm, tugging him to a stop.

"'That girl' has a name. Look, Rapunzel is the opposite of a problem, okay? She just makes me feel-"

"-Like singing and dancing, yeah I get it." This really angered Tex. He pushed Flynn in the chest with both hands, glaring. "Like I'm more than just 'the basketball captain'," he snapped. That said, he turned on his heel and stormed away to his locker, leaving Flynn stood staring after him.

Texas changed quickly and left without Flynn, which was unheard of. He basically jogged all the way to the art room, where Rapunzel was bound to be, and smiled when he saw her there, brush to canvas as usual, quite content to be the only one there.

Leaning against the door frame, arms folded loosely across his chest, Tex spoke. "So, Van Gogh, how would you feel if I told you I'm in?" he asked playfully.

The blond jumped a little as he spoke so suddenly, and she turned around in her chair to beam at him. He approached.

"In for what?"

"'In for what'? The musical, what else?" he exclaimed. He perched on one of the tables, watching her eyes light up.

"Really?" she asked hopefully.

"Would I lie to you?"

Rapunzel pretended to deliberate this and Tex smirked, biting back a laugh.

"Funny," he responded sarcastically.

Lissa I found a thing and at first I was just squealing because Rex and then i thought dear god what if this lulled Leilani to sleep every night and tHEN i had a vision of Tex getting killed by his father or something and Rapunzel just sits there with him bleeding and dead in her lap and this plays quietly in the background as she cries

so yeah it went from fluff to feels and noW I'M CRYING LIKE A LOT

 Alright, we took an eleven hour plane ride in two and a half hours! Weeeee I’m a dork. Never ceases to amuse me.

Anyway, our vacation is officially over! If my brain works at all at this point I will try to turn airplane mode off on my phone so I can get connected to the network again.

 All that’s left is to survive the trip home and promptly pass out at one in the afternoon. This is the last scheduled trip update, so when I regain consciousness tomorrow, I’ll hop on my computer and attend to everything that appeared in my absence.

Our plane is departing for the U.S. now! Hopefully I’ve been online a little bit, but if not, maybe when we arrive. Maybe. That all depends on whether or not I can focus my eyes long enough to read the text on my phone. Based on last time we went, the prospects are not looking good. Although, I was only 8 or 9 years old last time… but yeah we’ll see.
