Strange Magic, tough girl
I expected Marianne to be a strong rebel character like she is later in the movie. The singing dew-eyed girl was definitely not what I expected and her being betrayed as a catalyst for her turning “dark” was annoying.
However, I see and understand that this is her story. She’ was already that tough girl, even with the singing, she had plans for ruling her kingdom and she desired adventure. Roland betraying her was a good thing? 1. she doesn’t marry the tool 2. she learns to be stronger ( and less dewy-eyed). 3. she sings better songs! rock and roll, son 4. she learns how to use that sword and punch people.
And at the end of the day (or movie?), she’s pretty much the same girl, a tough girl.
