I turned 60 in September.
I turned 60 this past September. I'm looking over the last 30 years of my life. From 30-35, I was at my fittest. I exercised, jogged, and cycled at least 3 times a week.
In the late 90's, there were a lot of health challenges and in the early 2000's, I hit a low depression. You may not know that when you hit a low depression, doctors decide to offer you medication to help you feel better. These medications cause weight gain.
I experienced a weight gain of +30 pounds in a month. Yes, that is a lot! And what I experienced after that was that no doctor wanted to help me lose that weight. Then a new depression set in.
Now I am 60. I've struggled for some 25 years to bring my weight down. I want to get back to being physically fit. I want to be able to enjoy exercise, walking/jogging, and cycling again. I really enjoy swimming. I want to build endurance and I want to eat healthy. It's not just eating healthily that will bring me back to being fit.
I'm looking for that support system. I'm looking for that sponsor who will help me, support me, and test me. I offer my 60-year-old body.
I've yet to cycle 100 miles. I've wanted to. It is on my bucket list.
In May 2021 I was hit by a car as a pedestrian. I had multiple soft tissue injuries. I had a broken fibula. I was fortunate that it healed without surgery. I was left with nerve damage in my lower back and down my right leg. Over time I am healing, and I have not needed much but OTC anti-inflammatories.
I am eager to see what I can do at age 60.
