Here are some demos of a few options a person has to escape the Turtle Guard position using wrestling concepts. These work well from a S-Mount base rather then the traditional knees on the mat and elbow pinched.
Keys to Success
The Stand Up - Make sure to keep your elbow on the inside to keep control (The GIF doesn’t detail this, sorry) Also, lean your weight into your opponent to create a pressure build up that allows you to get up to your feet.
Sit and Switch - No need to break the grip, simply reach your arm over theirs (Don’t reach under their arm they will pull you to the mat if you go under their arm) and hook their leg. This creates a lot of pressure on the opponents arm and will make them let go.
The Sit Out - Get a good grip of the opponent’s elbow and pull the shoulder down as you sit. Again this creates lots of pressure on their arm and will make them want to let go.
