Corporate PR using memes is not inherently bad. They, like you and me, sometimes do it wrong. We should not hate on the mainstream using memes unless they are doing so incorrectly, like deploying the wrong me or using wrong context.

Plus almost every time it either comes off as cold, cheap, and detached, or like that “cool uncle” that’s really not cool at all and you just wish he’d stop trying and be normal.

The crows came off as representing my culture more than blacks. I saw them as representing white "good old boy" Southerners. Also, the piano Siamese cat, remember, was a member of a "diverse" and harmonious musical group where "race" did not matter. This is the same group that took down the white villain and saved lives. The only thing the piano cat did that's racist was his solo ("ding dang dong, fortune cookie's always wrong"), and that was in jest. "Aristocrats" was a fantastic movie.

Also, Siamese cats can have squinty eyes. Slanted eyelid folds are a defining facial feature of Asians. Unlike buck teeth, it’s hardly a stereotype and they do come in that color. To be yellowface, doesn’t a non-that race person have to dress up?

I think the piano Siamese cat is adorable. My reaction was “aww he’s so happy I would love to pet him”, not “intentional insult”. Was his solo racist? Yes. Was he? No. Besides, “fortune cookie ’ s always wrong” is not broken English. He only used chopsticks once; he is fully capable of actually playing the piano. Dumbo also had drunken all-white clowns and the film’s lesson was against bullying and overcoming difficulty. You forget these characters had personality and purpose beyond their looks.

buddy pal friend guy none of that matters when they are based off racist stereotypes. it doesn’t matter if you think the racist cat is cute, they are based off racist stereotypes. 

these characters were not created in a bubble. these characters do not exist on their own but were created by someone else. a human person has to put conscious thought into how these characters were portrayed. these creatures were not divined by some mystical deity who bestows cartoon animals upon us. a human person was in charge of creating these characters. a human person who is influenced by the prevailing culture. a human person who could be (and probably was) racist because at the time of their creation it was socially acceptable to be that brand of racist.

yellow face and black face aren’t just a human person dressing up as another race. it could be a white person portraying another race- see golliwogs, aunt jemima, the clevland show. these are things all created by white people to portray another race via racist archetypes, like the cat and the crows.

racism doesn’t have to be intentional. you can say the fucking cat was not racist because you don’t perceive him as such but that doesn’t make the cat not racist. racism isn’t an opinion my guy.

at this point you’re being purposefully obtuse and i have a life. as mentioned in the original post i have no plans on engaging with people and have humoured you long enough.

You are aware that both the crows and the piano Siamese cat were both not villains or evil, right? They both turned out to be friendly (like the other "good" minor characters) and received no hate or mistreatment in the movies.

the crows in Dumbo were based off black stereotypes of the time and one of them was literally named “Jim Crow” off the racist sets of laws that promoted segregation. they are birdie black face.

just because they’re “good guys” doesn’t make them not racist as shit. think critically my guy, use ya brain

In what world are fat men considered feminine?! My father is a little bit fat, his father was very fat, and both of my mother's grandfathers were REALLY fat at some point. Everyone looked masculine and were treated as though they were masculine.

Just like fat women have to over-perform femininity, fat men must over-perform masculinity.

It’s cool all the fat men in your life were/are comfortable with their masculinity but your family is a relatively small sample size.

Many fat men, particularly gay, bi and trans men will struggle with the ‘fat is girly’ thing.

beyond that society’s attitudes to fatness are changing. what our grandfather’s dealt with won’t be the same attitudes our sons will deal with.

men are being made to feel more self-conscious and fatphobia is ramping up and fatphobia is going to say any nonsensical shit it can to make fat people feel like crap. So in 10 years time it’ll be worth remembering standards of masculinity were different

my dad once told me that I shouldn’t have to call in sick because of cramps and said that the only way it could actually be that bad is if I was dangerously ill
