07/26/20 Up until yesterday, I believed that these broad-leafed plants coming up were my cosmos, You see, I planted 6 varieties, and for quite some time, they appeared to be growing at the same rate as the wispy looking ones. Thinking that they were all varieties of cosmos, a creeping doubt set in when the broad-leafed ones suddenly became much larger than the wispy ones. Turns out the big ones are sunflowers that all sprouted around the same time; apparently they were sowed from the bird feeder I coincidentally started then. I nearly weeded out all the true cosmos and left the sunflower plants, but fortunately this handy little plant id site helped me realize my folly in time: https://plant.id/.
