TUSAL update - March 14, 2014

My TUSAL update is ridiculously late, but I love showing off my ORTs, so I'm posting it anyway! :)

I lucked into a sun break, so I took my photo outside today. This is my office ORT cube, which is where I put my fiber waste from spinning as well as my thread waste from skeining batches. We aren't even a quarter of the way through the year and it's already getting quite full - I might end up needing a second cube for this year!

TUSAL - January 1, 2014

It's time for another year of the Totally Useless Stitch-A-Long! The TUSAL is basically an ort-collecting-and-photographing-a-long, not actually a stitch-a-long. Grab a jar, put your orts in it over the next year, and take photos of your "progress" at each new moon (listed on the TUSAL intro post), and you are part of the TUSAL.

I actually have two types of orts - the "normal" ort that comes from stitching, and then my office "orts", which are a collection of fiber scraps from spinning and the ends from thread batches as I skein - so I'm making three jars this year.

The glass block is for my desk - it will hold my office orts. The small jar on it's side is my stitching ort jar (figured I better get something with a decent lid, since I like to go to stitching groups), and the upright round jar is for next to my spinning wheel. I will be emptying this one into the glass block throughout the year. In the back is my full 2013 office ort jar, which is now sitting in my windowsill.

TUSAL Update - January 2013

It's the first New Moon of 2013, which means it's time for my first TUSAL (Totally Useless Stitch-A-Long) update.

I actually keep 2 different "ORT" containers - one next to my stitching seat in our living room, and a second one in my office, used for thread left over from skeining batches of my handspun thread. For this month, I took a photo of my office ORT jar, since it's almost full and much prettier than my stitching one at the moment :)  

If you keep your ORTs in a jar, or a container, or in some other form, join the TUSAL! It's absolutely the easiest stitch-a-long you'll ever join :)

Sharon (DaffyCat) has announced the 2013 edition of the simplest SAL on the planet! All you do is collect your ORTs from stitching in a jar or vase, and post photos of them once a month!
