[efficient-econ]

As all of you know, you need to do the extra reading to demonstrate your absolute 'passion' for the subject. This is in affect what efficient-econ is all about (pooling our collective knowledge and insight for the good of the whole) hence why I looked for a particular list of books to read other my summer in order to feed my 'passion' and fill my UCAS.

Councidently I've already begun reading the first book on the list '23 Things They Don’t Tell You About Capitalism (Ha-Joon Chang)'  which I am enjoying greaatly, only 4 chapters in at the moment, however. As the other books go I am In particularly interested in, after a quick look; 'Animal Spirits (Akerlof and Shiller)', 'Art of Strategy (Dixit and Nalebuff)' and 'The (Honest) Truth About Dishonesty (Dan Ariely)'. As you can probably tell I am especially interested in behavioural economics.

In my economics workshop today

we learnt about Demand. The total demand in an economy is calculated by adding up money spent from the following:

Consumption (people buying stuff) + Investment (banks giving businesses money) + Government spending + eXports - the iMports.

We remember this by Demand = C + I + G + X - M

And a lady in our talk today goes "Now this is how I remember it, and it got quite a reaction in the economic workshop at our last venue. Just remember Aggregate Demand is "Can I Get Excited without Men?" 

... everyone laughed. The girls more than the boys. And then we were just like WHATTT THE HEEELLL?! WHO ARE YOU? WHO SAYS THAT? OH MY GOD! WE'RE CHILDREN!

I just... don't know what to say...
