Rhonda Shear
Rhonda Shear (Nov. 12, 1954-): American entrepreneur, author, stand-up comic, actress, Playboy model, beauty queen and TV hostess/writer! A former Miss Louisiana and Miss Hollywood (World USA); Rhonda Shear went from beauty queen to Hollywood starlet -- with guest appearances and small, but memorable, roles in popular television series: Happy Days, Dallas, Cheers, Three's Company, The A-Team, CHiPS, and Married with Children. In film: Galaxina (1980) and Spaceballs (1987); supporting roles that highlighted Ms. Shear's physical appeal and humor. The defining role she's best known for is as herself -- as the hostess (Friday night broadcast) and writer of USA's Up All Night (1989-1998), a late night program featuring a selection of B-movies and cult films on both Friday and Saturday nights. While Gilbert Gottfried hosted Saturday night, from 1989-1998, Rhonda Shear stepped into the Friday night hosting duties from 1991 to 1998 -- when USA unceremoniously dropped both hosts -- showing films without benefit of the wit and skits of the comedian/hosts! Ms. Shear developed a successful women's intimate apparel line, sold via the Home Shopping Network. Ms. Shear recounted her career highs and lows in the book -- "Up All Night: From Hollywood Bombshell to Lingerie Mogul, Life Lessons From An Accidental Feminist."
