AFACT reckons it's because we want free stuff...

It's not.

I would happily pay for a legitimate livestream of shows airing in the US. Emphasis is on the live bit.

Most of us these days are on twitter, facebook and tumblr. If we don't see an episode within an hour of it airing on the east coast of the US, it is plastered all over social media and the episode is spoiled. We want access to tv that airs within an hour of it airing in the US. Give us that, and we'll pay for it. Seriously.

It has nothing at all to do with getting it for free. It is entirely to do with getting it within a reasonable timeframe so that the episode isn't spoiled and so that we can discuss it in real time with our friends online.

It's bad enough waiting a week or two for an episode, but there's some shows that are years behind. Australian tv networks want to fix it? Pull your heads out your ass.
